Our day program is proud to foster a space where everyone is welcomed, supported, included, and celebrated. Together, we’re building a community where every individual has the opportunity to participate, connect, learn, and thrive.

Here’s to celebrating abilities, encouraging inclusion, and appreciating what makes each person wonderfully unique!

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

Saturday, October 10, 2026, was World Mental Health Day.

We’re taking a moment to recognize the importance of mental health, connection, and community.

At our day center, we believe everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, valued, and included. Every conversation, shared laugh, creative activity, and moment of connection matters.

Let’s continue to break the stigma, support one another, and make mental health a priority—every day.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! 💙

This month, we recognize the contributions of people with disabilities in the workplace and celebrate the value of inclusive employment.
Creating accessible workplaces means opening doors to opportunity, supporting diverse talents and ensuring everyone has the chance to thrive.

Let’s keep building workplaces where disability inclusion isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of how we work, lead and grow. ♿️✨

🌿💚 Growing kindness, community, and connection!

Our Adult Day Program participants had a wonderful time volunteering at the Niles Food Pantry Farm! From getting their hands in the soil to harvesting fresh vegetables, everyone worked together to support a meaningful cause. 🥕🥬🍅

It was a beautiful day of teamwork, learning, and giving back to our community. We are so proud of our participants for sharing their time, energy, and smiles! 🌱🤝

🎳 Strike up the fun! 🎳

Our Douglas Center adult day program participants had a fantastic time bowling and enjoying a day out together. Everyone brought their own energy to the lanes, whether they were aiming for a strike, cheering on their friends, or simply enjoying the fun atmosphere. 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity to get active, socialize, encourage one another, and enjoy some friendly competition. We love creating experiences where our participants can connect, try something new, and most importantly, have a great time together!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this bowling outing such a memorable day! 🎳✨

🚌💙 Hop on the Bus to Independence!

Pace and SEARCH teamed up for a free, hands-on workshop to help people with disabilities build the skills and confidence they need to use public transportation and get where they want to go.
From learning how to navigate the bus to gaining confidence in traveling independently, this workshop is all about creating more opportunities for independence. 🙌

A big thank you to SEARCH for partnering with Pace and helping make this workshop possible! We’re proud to work together to connect people to greater independence, opportunity, and community. 💙🚌

🌪️ Learning, Exploring & Experiencing Chicago! 🌬️

The Douglas Center recently visited the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry for an exciting, hands-on adventure exploring the power of extreme weather! 🌩️

Our participants got to experience science in action, with two exhibits standing out as favorites: a 40-foot interactive tornado 🌪️ and a wind tunnel reaching speeds of up to 80 miles per hour! 💨
There was plenty of excitement, curiosity, and learning along the way — and, of course, lots of smiles!

Trips like this are an important part of The Douglas Center’s programming. We believe in creating opportunities for our participants to explore, learn, and connect with the incredible cultural institutions throughout Chicago. From museums and science to art and beyond, there is so much our city has to offer! ❤️
