We’ve heard your questions related to the proposed Sports Park East and Channelside South projects. Here's what you should know about environmental cleanup, parking and traffic at our proposed sites:

Sports Park East
• Environmental cleanup: The site was remediated in 2017, and a No Further Remediation (NFR) letter was issued following the cleanup.
• Parking: The site currently has 268 parking spaces. Proposed improvements would add 57 spaces, bringing the total to 325.

Channelside South
• Environmental studies: Phase I and Phase II studies were completed in 2025, with no recognized environmental conditions identified.
• Parking: The proposed north parking lot would include approximately 156 spaces, with an additional 354 spaces available at Vinyard Church. This combined capacity would help accommodate overflow parking during larger events.

Traffic Planning
If the projects move forward, a traffic study will be conducted to assess traffic patterns and potential impacts to help determine appropriate event sizes.

HAUNTED HERITAGE CEMETERY WALK: BOOm & BUST
Get spooky with a tour of St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery and St. Peter's UCC Cemetery! Set off among the tombstones to meet our friendly graveyard ghosts and hear their stories of major BOOms and busts throughout Skokie's development. Each year features entirely NEW stories and ghosts!

Meet at the entrance to St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery (8530 Harms Rd.). Tours last about an hour and depart the front gates every 10 minutes, with the last tour leaving at 12 p.m. Tickets: $15 (resident / non-resident). Ages 8 and up. Drop-ins welcome.
