CRCS learners have choice embedded throughout their day - choosing classes, choosing assignments, choosing when they eat and play. But, choice doesn’t mean ‘anything, anytime.’ It means learners make intentional decisions within clear boundaries.

Could your learner benefit from choices during the school day? Choice provides learners with flexibility, but with flexibility comes responsibility too.

Enrollment is open for this year, and next year! Reach out to learn more. CRCS is a free school of choice in Skowhegan and Cornville, ME for grades pre-K to 12.

Our school is built around the belief that learning works best when students have agency.

Learners here help design their educational path, practice self-advocacy, and develop the skills needed to navigate a flexible learning environment. Educators guide, support, and challenge—while students take an active role in their growth.

This model isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. It’s designed for learners who are ready to engage, reflect, and take responsibility for their learning.

At Community Regional Charter School (CRCS) in Cornville and Skowhegan, we flip the script on learning.

In many traditional schools, time is fixed and learning can vary—but at CRCS, learning is the constant and time is flexible. That means students move at their own pace, diving deeper when they need it and advancing as soon as they’ve truly mastered a concept. For kids who are ready to move on, curious to explore more, or feeling held back by the pace of a typical classroom, CRCS offers a personalized path forward.

Best of all, we’re a free public school of choice, grades pre-K to 12—and enrollment is open now.

Learn by Readiness, Not Age: At CRCS, our ungraded, proficiency-based model meets learners exactly where they are—advancing when they master a concept, without arbitrary grade-level limits.

This core belief leads learners to success each and every day.
