I know very confusing at times, but King County has not lifted burn ban yet. Our web page is the best place to check our current burn ban skykomishfire50.com or call the fire station 9-5.

King County is currently under a Stage 2 Burn Ban, which prohibits all outdoor fires including recreational campfires, backyard fire pits, cooking fires, and ceremonial fires. Propane and natural‑gas appliances and charcoal grills remain allowed.

Very sad to learn today the Passing of Paramedic Jim Pierce. Jim provided a very important role for this department for many years (26 years). Over the years as a responder, ongoing training, EMT class instructor, advocate, MSO, and mentor. Over the years when it was allowed, he would run our Volunteer paramedic program. He put on multiple EMT classes in Skykomish for our Volunteers. Then when he went to Ellensburg and taught at Central he helped with getting us Volunteers. For many years he would still make the trip over from Ellensburg monthly to do our EMT continuing education, PEPP and PHTLS classes. We totally understood when he said he could no longer provide our training, but it was greatly missed. Jim was one of the best instructors, run reviewer, mentor and friends this department has ever had. Jim had the best knowledge and demeanor on calls. He would always bring out the best in the EMT’s and help them grow on all calls. Jim Pierce you will be greatly missed, and You’ve left a lasting mark on all of us that knew you.

Dear Community,

On behalf of the King County Department of Local Services, I'd like to personally invite you to a small, in-person conversation with our Director about Baring/unincorporated king county. This is part of a countywide listening tour where the Director is visiting each Community Service Area to hear directly from local leaders like you about the issues and concerns that matter most in our community.

We are bringing together a group of 15-30 community voices for this special session. As space is limited, we kindly request that you register your attendance to help us prepare for your participation. Joining the Director will be your Community Service Area Liaison, the Economic Development Specialist for our area, a representative from Roads and Permitting, and someone from the King County Executive's Office.
