Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th are National Days of Service & Remembrance. This is a great time to serve family, friends, neighbors, or the community. There are not any specific projects the city is requesting assistance on. If you or a group is looking for service projects some are listed on the following website: JustServe

The Cache County School District has been working hard on installing a new safety sidewalk on the south side of Sky View High School from the roundabout to the irrigation canal just west of 455 South. The city is now in the process of installing a foot bridge at the irrigation canal to the sidewalks on both sides of the canal can connect. PLEASE be cautious as there are children walking to school in this area and there are construction crews working on the edge of the roadway constructing the bridge.

There are ongoing discussions with working groups and the Cache Fire Protection District Board of Trustees as well as the Cache County Council. The mayor, myself and others are actively involved in these discussions and meetings. Slow and steady progress is being made and it will continue to be a work in progress.

There will be opportunities to serve throughout the valley on both days as well as a Commemoration Celebration on Saturday, September 12th at Willow Park. The splash pad will close for the season on Tuesday, September 8th. We hope everyone that utilized this recreational area had an enjoyable time. We appreciate those who were willing to clean up garbage, etc. so the area can be utilized year after year by the residents.

With the start of the new school year, we should all familiarize ourselves with the traffic patterns happening during school dropoff and pickup time. With the school boundary changes this has resulted in students going to different schools than in the past, bus route changes and more. Please be on alert as we all settle in for the new school year with different traffic patterns, walking routes, etc. as the students come and go from the schools. Let’s all work together to keep the community safe.

The library staff was notified, for the third year in a row, they have received the “Quality Library Designation” from the Utah State Library.
