[September 14, 2:35 PM]: A prolonged period of very hot temperatures is forecast to impact our area this week with latest indications suggesting the heat wave will extend into the coming weekend. A Heat Advisory is in effect across our entire region Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a high likelihood that additional heat headlines will be needed Thursday and Friday as well. High humidity levels will combine with very hot temperatures to produce heat index readings over 100 degrees through Friday. Humidity levels lower somewhat this weekend so while it will still be hot, it may not be quite as extreme. If you have outdoor activities planned, consider alternate arrangements to reduce heat exposure and implement heat mitigation plans.
