The event provided students with an opportunity to interact with law enforcement officers and emergency communications personnel while learning about public safety and the important role each agency plays in serving the community.

Topics discussed with students included:

● When to Call 911 – Students learned when it is appropriate to call 911, what information emergency dispatchers need, and the importance of remaining calm and providing accurate information during an emergency.

● K9 Awareness – Students were introduced to law enforcement K9 operations and learned about the important role police K9s play in keeping communities safe, as well as proper safety around working K9s.

The participating agencies emphasized that building positive relationships between law enforcement and young people is an important part of creating a safe and informed community.

Events such as this allow students to meet the men and women who serve their communities, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of the responsibilities of law enforcement, emergency communications, and public safety personnel.
