On Wednesday, NOPEC joined the Ashtabula County Land Bank, the City of Conneaut, and other partners to celebrate the completion of the Neighborhood Next development at the former Hayward Park.

Through collaboration at the local, state, and federal levels, this project has transformed the former park into new homes while demonstrating a creative approach to making homeownership more attainable. Four homes were financed with Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing to support energy-efficient improvements.

And some families are already settling into their new homes. "I never thought I'd own a brand-new home, but now I do and it's been a dream," said Tauna Luci, one of the first homeowners to benefit from this program. "We love the area, we love the community... it's perfect. This is a great program, I hope they can do this for more people."

We're proud to be a part of a project that is making a meaningful difference for families in our community.

A common misconception about your energy bills is that once you enroll with a supplier, you end up paying "double." 💵

What is actually happening is that you are paying for supply charges, and transmission charges. These are on your bill regardless of if you are enrolled with an energy supplier or not. ✅

Supply and transmission charges don't have to be equal, either, and often times are not. Keep this in mind the next time you are looking at your energy bill!
