Offering acute-care services to the Santa Ynez Valley since 1964, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) provides outpatient surgery, 24-hour emergency services, and a physician office lease program that brings specialists to the Valley on a regular basis. Services include; emergency medicine, surgical services, radiology (including MRI, Digital Mammography, and other imaging services), cardiac rehabilitation, nutritional counseling and classes, and laboratory services.

Today marks an exciting milestone for the future of healthcare education in our community!

Cottage Health is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new home of the Cottage Health Careers Academy at San Marcos High School!

For decades, the Cottage Health Careers Academy has helped prepare local students for careers in healthcare. This new, modern learning space will build on that legacy, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities and experiences that prepare them for the healthcare careers of tomorrow.

Cottage Health President and CEO Scott Wester joined school and community leaders to celebrate this milestone, alongside Cottage leaders and staff who have played an instrumental role in supporting this longstanding partnership.

We're grateful to the educators, community partners and supporters who are helping bring this vision to life and look forward to the opportunities the Cottage Health Careers Academy will create for students.

On Saturday, October 10, Cottage nurse Kerry MacIntosh was recognized at halftime of the UCSB vs. Cal Poly men’s soccer game during Cottage Night in front of nearly 17,000 fans!

Kerry, recently named Cottage Health Nurse of the Year, was honored with a special ball presentation with UCSB Athletic Director, Kelly Barsky. Kerry's Nurse of the Year honor celebrates her dedication, compassion and extraordinary commitment to our patients and community.

At Cottage, she is a gentle and intuitive dog who is sweet with babies, toddlers and adults of all ages. She visits surgical care waiting rooms, pediatrics, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital and the emergency department. She also likes to support the hard-working staff.

At home, Bella enjoys doing several different tricks that she learned at dog agility classes.

For Cottage nurse Cara Sorenson, owning a home was always a dream — but the process felt overwhelming, and she and her family weren’t sure it was achievable.

Through the Cottage Health home buying assistance program, Cara was connected with knowledgeable resources and guidance that helped her navigate the process, overcome affordability and down payment barriers, and ultimately make first-time homeownership a reality for her family.

The program is helping Cottage employees reduce financial stress, build confidence and secure housing in the community they serve.

Cottage Urgent Care – Buellton is continuing to offer free flu vaccines to community members through October 16, thanks to support from the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation.

We’re happy to see local residents taking advantage of this free resource as we head into flu season. Vaccines are available by appointment for individuals ages 12 and older, while supplies last.
