🍁 Have leaves in your yard that you'd like to get rid of? The City of Somerset vacuums leaves for our residents when they report them to our street department (606.679.1106). Crews will begin cleaning up leaves on Nov. 1.

For safety, we ask our residents to follow a few simple rules as they gather the leaves on their property:

• Please rake all leaves to the street curb, without obstructing drains, catch basins or sidewalks. The street department cannot go onto private property to pick up leaves.
• Do not rake leaves into the street, gutter line, around parked cars or around fire hydrants.
• Leaves must be free of limbs, rocks or other household trash.

Call our street department at 606.679.1106 with any questions.

SOMERSET RESIDENTS: Fall Cleanup 2026 is here! 🍁 Be sure to put out your extra items on your normal pickup day. You may put out one extra load of trash (pickup truck size, about 6 by 6 feet) in addition to what is in your trash can. ⚠️ No hazardous materials, please! ⚠️ If you have questions about what is allowed, please call the City of Somerset Sanitation office at (606) 679-1107 or email [email protected].

Our annual fall cleanup is next week! 🍁 If you're home for fall break, it's a great time to clean out those closets and garages so that we can pick up the items you don't want for FREE.

Here's how it works:
• Every City of Somerset Sanitation customer is allowed one pickup truckload of trash (roughly 6 feet by 6 feet in size) during the week of Oct. 12-16
• Sit your items out on the curb on your regular pickup day
• Please do NOT include hazardous materials like gasoline, oil, paint, tires or other chemicals!

The City of Somerset is proud to offer this free service to our sanitation customers! Call 606.679.1107 or email [email protected] with questions.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 26, Somerset Water Service will flush all hydrants in Somerset and Ferguson. Flushing may continue until Friday, Oct. 30.

We urge customers to please check water clarity before washing clothes. Hydrant flushing may cause discolored water in some areas for a short time. Flushing is required to improve water quality and ensure hydrants are operational.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Together with the Business & Professional Women's Club, Somerset KY and Pulaski County Government, we are proud to recognize October as Women's Professional Month.

Mayor Alan Keck and Pulaski County Judge-Executive Marshall Todd recently signed a proclamation recognizing the women whose work contributes significantly to the economic strength, cultural enrichment and civic leadership of our community.

They're entrepreneurs who took a chance on an idea and health care professionals who care for our families. They're educators, public servants and community leaders. They are mentors who make the path a little easier for the women coming up behind them, and they continue to break barriers and drive innovation across the Lake Cumberland region.

For decades, BPW has invested in working women here through leadership development, mentoring and advocacy for fair and supportive workplaces. This month, we invite our residents to recognize the contributions of professional women and women-owned businesses to our local economy and community well-being.

Heartfelt thanks to the City of Somerset, KY for their incredibly generous donation to the Pulaski County Imagination Library! 📚✨

Because of your continued support, hundreds of young children across our community will receive free, high-quality books delivered straight to their homes every single month. By investing in early childhood literacy, you aren't just sending books—you're opening doors, sparking imaginations, and laying a foundation for lifelong learning for Pulaski County’s next generation.

We are so grateful to have local leaders who prioritize our children and our community’s future. Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading from the very start!

Days like this are why I wanted to become mayor.

Designating National Adult Day Services Week in Somerset is always a treat, a day filled with smiles and kindness offered by residents who use and provide this extremely important service. I enjoyed answering thoughtful questions from my friends at Just Family Adult Day Care of Pulaski Co. and Active Day of Somerset, most of which centered around what new restaurants or retail stores we might be getting (Olive Garden, Target and Five Below were the most popular requests), when our Publix will open, and how we can provide better transportation in our community and better care for the homeless.

Someone new will sign this proclamation next year, so I agreed to go out in style with a friendly donut-eating competition against one of Adult Day’s nurses. Sad to say I didn’t win, but the donut sure was good, and so was the company.
