The pantry continues to be blessed with some verry hard working individuals.
On Wednesday 23 September Lisa Stacy and Pat went up to Good Shepherd Food Bank. They returned with seven pallets of food weighing 8,966 pounds. The following volunteers helped to unload this large shipment:
Brian Noel
Conrad Aubin
Kevin Cavanaugh
Richard Shepherd
John Vaughn
Nick Stacy
Neal Stacy
Lisa Stacy
Gary Nolan
Chris Muentener
David and Pat Vachon
Thank you to all of you who most likely had sore backs after all of this.

Friday 2 October Chir Muentener, Conrad Aubin, David and Pat Vachon went to Barrington to receive and load our New Hampshire USDA food. The weight of this food was 3,410 pounds The following volunteers helped to unload this shipment:

Brian Noel
Conrad Aubin

Without volunteers like these the pantry could not be able to help the individuals that make use of the service. Many of them are elderly and living on Social Security and just don’t have enough to make ends meet.

Last Friday Maurice (Moe) Cody was unloading what he picked up from Shaw’s’ and he tripped and fell onto the ramp leading into the pantry storage building. He was bleeding badly so he called the ambulance and while on his way to the hospital while in the ambulance he called Pat to let her know he left the pantry unlocked and could she go there and put the meat away and finish storing what he brought over there. The hospital determined he has fractured his C-1 and C-2 discs along with several deep cuts on his face and nose. We have seen a lot of dedicated people but not sure either Pat or I have seen anyone this dedicated to have made sure the food he brought over was taken care of after being injured that badly. He will be laid up for about three months while he heals. If anyone knows of someone who can help with the Friday Shaws grocery pick up please let us know.

Another big thank you for Neal Stacey, Kevin Cavanaugh, Richard Shepherd, Conrad Aubin, Chris Muentener and John Vaughn who helped Pat & I unload this months truck load of food from NH USDA. Without volunteers like these the pantry would have a hard time helping the families who depend on us.

On Wednesday 20 May the pantry was presented a check for the Community Food Pantry from the parishioners of St Ignatius of Loyola Parish and an anonymous donor for $30,000.00. This is a wonderful donation and the pantry staff and I send a huge thank you to the parish community which is always so generous. The donation will go far in helping the pantry provide food to our numerous neighbors in need of help. At the food pantry we see many senior citizens who depend on Social Security for their livelihood. The food pantry helps bridge the gap for these folks enabling them to keep food on their table. In addition, we see many families ranging in size from 2 to 10 members. Donations such as this one allow us to provide these neighbors with healthy nutritious food as often as once a week if needed. During the month of April the food pantry had 477 family visits. Thank you to the parish and generous parishioners for helping support the food pantry with all your weekly food donations, and for providing additional funds to keep our shelves stocked and our freezers full. We are extremely grateful.

During the month of March we had 466 family visits. The need is continuing to grow. Hopefully we will be able to continue providing the help that is so desperately needed. We have about 60 volunteers who pick up food from area grocery stores and help picking up and unloading truck loads of USDA food from NH and Maine as well as helping distribute the food to the families that need it.

A huge surprise and a heartfelt thank you to Anna Jasper who sent a get well card and Franciska Pomerleau who sent one signed by Robin Ricard and Priscilla Buzzell. While I was in the hospital Kevin and Conrad made sure Pat had transportation back and forth to the pantry and the hospital. Being involved in the pantry is not a job it is a pleasure.
