The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department is proud to celebrate five of our own who successfully completed the rigorous Paramedic Program at Arizona Western College’s Public Safety Institute:

• Jorge Walle
• Bryana Gastelum
• Pedro Cardenas
• Francisco Lugo
• Ryan Walton

Completing paramedic school while serving the community is a major achievement. It takes hundreds of hours of classroom work, clinical rotations, field training, and these five did it with dedication and professionalism.

We’re also grateful that the Somerton Cocopah Fire Department was able to sponsor their tuition. Investing in our people means stronger emergency care for the families we serve. Under the leadership of Chief Javier Hernandez, we’re committed to building a highly skilled team that can deliver advanced life support when it matters most.

Please join us in congratulating Jorge, Bryana, Pedro, Francisco, and Ryan on this accomplishment. We’re proud of you and excited for the difference you’ll make on the streets.

Stay safe out there.

Somerton-Cocopah Fire Department — 9/11 Remembrance

Twenty-five years later, we still stand.

This morning our members, neighboring agencies, families, and community gathered to honor the 343 FDNY brothers and sisters who never came home, and every life lost on September 11, 2001.

We raised the colors. We stood in formation. We listened. And we remembered why we wear this uniform.

We will never forget.

🎒❤️ Serving Our Community, One Backpack at a Time! ❤️🎒

On 7/18/26, members of the Somerton-Cocopah Fire Department had the privilege of volunteering at Tierra Del Sol Elementary School, helping prepare students for a successful school year by filling backpacks with essential school supplies.
It was an honor to work alongside fellow volunteers, educators, law enforcement, and community partners to ensure local students have the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Seeing the excitement on the children's faces reminds us that serving our community goes far beyond emergency response—it means showing up wherever we're needed.
We are grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and made this event possible. Together, we're investing in the future of our community—one child, one backpack, and one act of kindness at a time.
We hope all of our students have a safe, fun, and successful school year! 📚✏️🎉
