For several days this week, the Somerville Fire Marshal’s and members of the Somerville Fire Department visited the town’s elementary schools and day care centers giving demonstrations for fire prevention week. Students saw the apparatus, firefighters in gear, were taught stop, drop and roll and were shown smoke detectors. Thanks to everyone that came out to help make these demonstrations happen!

At 1:52 this morning , The Somerville Fire Department was dispatched to an alarm at 23 Division St. PD confirmed a smoke condition and The Raritan Fire Department was added to the assignment. Upon entry to the Restaurant, it was discovered that the griddle had been left on. Raritan was quickly cancelled, the griddle was secured, and a fan was used to vent out the smoke. A quick response avoided what could have been a bad situation. Thank you to all that responded.
