Yes, we pushed the car over. 💪🚒

It was all part of vehicle-extrication training night 2—not an actual crash. With the car on its side, our crew practiced stabilizing it, working together, and using rescue tools to access the vehicle.

Swipe through for a look at training night. We hope we never need these skills at your roadside, but we’ll be ready if we do. 🔥

The Somonauk Fire Protection District extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Newark Fire Protection District Chief Jeff Mathre.

Chief Mathre’s many years of dedicated service, steadfast leadership, and commitment to his community leave a lasting legacy. His passing is a profound loss not only to the Newark Fire Protection District, but to the entire fire service family.

During this difficult time, we stand alongside the Mathre family and the members of the Newark Fire Protection District. May they find strength and comfort in the many lives Chief Mathre touched throughout his years of service.

Rest easy, Chief Mathre. Your dedication and service will always be remembered.
