*** PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) — Community Update 10/16/26 at 10:00 a.m.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES) continues to monitor the ongoing Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). PG&E reports that they are hoping to have power restored by 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, depending on weather and safety inspections.
PG&E Customer Resource Centers (CRCs):
PG&E has opened Customer Resource Centers to support residents during the outage. Centers are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (0800–2200) at the following locations:
• Mi-Wuk (Indoor): Word of Life Fellowship, 24630 CA-108
• Twain Harte (Outdoor): Eperson Park, 22901 Meadow Dr
Services at both locations include device charging, Wi-Fi, bottled water, snacks, restrooms, cooled/heated seating, and PG&E staff on site to answer questions.
Generator Safety Reminders:
Residents using portable generators are urged to inspect and maintain them to prevent equipment failure and fire hazards. Always run generators outdoors in well-ventilated areas, far away from windows, doors, and dry brush. Never overload extension cords or plug a generator directly into household wall outlets.
Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Deputies patrolled the affected areas yesterday, as well as throughout the night and will continue patrols throughout the remainder of this PSPS event to support community safety and security during the outage.
Due to active Red Flag Warnings and the ongoing PSPS, local fire agencies have coordinated with Cal OES to pre-position five additional fire engines and support personnel from Tuolumne Rancheria Fire Department, Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Department, Tuolumne County Fire, and Twain Harte Fire District across Tuolumne County. This added staffing ensures a fast, proactive emergency response while fire danger remains elevated.
The Sheriff's Office thanks our partner agencies for their continued work to keep our communities safe. Residents are encouraged to monitor official channels for further updates and to report emergencies by calling 911.
