October is Fire Prevention Month!

South Burlington Firefighters have been busy spreading the word about important fire safety actions like checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and properly charging all electronic devices.

Pictured is our fire prevention coordinator FF/AEMT Collins during a recent fire safety presentation to Rick Marcotte Central School students.

We will be making our way through all the elementary schools, the South Burlington library, and many preschools and daycares, senior living facilities and businesses.

If you or your organization is interested in a fire safety presentation, give us a call at 802-846-4110

South Burlington’s new Ladder 1 recently reached another major milestone with the completion of its final inspection at E-ONE.

The final inspection is an important step in the apparatus construction process. The truck was reviewed against the department’s specifications, with operational checks completed on its chassis, aerial device, pump, electrical components, lighting, compartments, and equipment mounting.

Captain Gosselin and Senior Firefighters Goodrich and Bollhardt represented the department during the inspection. The team worked with E-ONE Fire Trucks and Desorcie Emergency Products personnel to evaluate the apparatus and identify any remaining items requiring attention before delivery.

We thank Garth and Desorcie Emergency Products for its continued assistance and support throughout the design, construction, inspection, and delivery process.

Ladder 1 is expected to arrive in South Burlington within the next few months. Once delivered, the truck will undergo local upfitting, equipment installation, testing, and comprehensive member training before being placed in service.

We look forward to introducing the completed apparatus to the community.
