The South Euclid Police Department Traffic Bureau began operation in 1953, with four officers being added to the motorcycle unit in 2010. That same year, several auxiliary police officers were added to the department. The SEPD K-9 unit was started in 2002, naming "Rex" as the departments first K-9.

We were proud to welcome South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools junior Paige Walker to our department for a ride-along experience. Paige, a dedicated track athlete at Brush High School who earned four medals over the weekend, is exploring a future in law enforcement and requested the opportunity through her School Resource Officer.
During her visit, Paige shared her interest in learning more about police work and gaining firsthand insight into the profession. She also expressed a strong interest in becoming a K-9 handler one day. To support that interest, we were excited to introduce her to Lyndhurst Police Officer Amy Barnett and her K-9 partner, Sonic, who provided a closer look at this unique and rewarding role.
Paige also had the opportunity to spend time with Sgt. Steve Wilson, a 24-year veteran of our department. Over the course of his career, Sgt. Wilson has served in several important roles, including Field Training Officer and member of the SWAT (EDGE) Team. Sgt. Wilson is a recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Law Enforcement Valor Award.
Experiences like this reflect the strong partnership between our department and the City of South Euclid we proudly serve. We are grateful for the opportunity to support students like Paige as they explore their future goals.
