To bring EMS week 2026 to a close, we introduce our newest member.

Our beautiful new 2026 Braun Chief XL. Donned with a modern new logo. The beginning of a new era for South Hero Rescue.

We strive to provide the highest quality care, with that that comes the need for high quality equipment. Braun is known across the industry for being the gold standard for safety, features, and longevity.

For a little agency like us choosing and ordering the correct ambulance, was no small feat. We needed it to realiable, safe, and ready to serve us for another two decades.

Some key new features of our ambulance are:

The controls are now touch screen, in place of old switches and buttons. This is good for cognitive off loading in high stress situations, and adds a degree of simplicity.

Our new ambulance is 4X4, ensuring we can transport safely, and respond to someone’s aid no matter the condition.

It provides a significantly smoother ride with modern liquid spring suspension.

It is significantly larger providing more head room, and room for additional providers in the back if needed.

Our ambulance now has full harnesses that allow providers to work - while restrained in the back of the ambulance, which was not possible with our old ambulance that only had lap belts.

We thank you, The Town of South Hero, and the residents of our great community for the unwavering support that we are lucky to have. Because of you, we are able to do we do. We truly are “Improving outcomes, together”

We bid a bittersweet farewell to our old ambulance, a 2007 Osage, that was put onto a new “chassis” in 2017. We will still see it on the road, as it goes to its new home locally. We know that our old ambulance will serve them well for years to come, just as it has for us.

2026’s EMS week theme is “improving outcomes, together”.

That could not be done with out our brothers and sisters on South Hero Fire. Aside from being our “roommates” in the station, they are our neighbors, our friends, and most importantly our partners.

By maintaining a first response unit, SHVFD regularly helps us out on a host of medical calls, and various other call types. We are proud to say that we work together, train together, and do what we DO, TOGETHER.

We could not be more appreciative, and thankful to work alongside such a great group of people.

South Hero Rescue would not be where we are today without their continued support!

Today for EMS week, South Hero Rescue would like to acknowledge someone so vital to our successes, and near and dear to our hearts that she deserves her own shout out.

That person, is our Treasurer Cyndi Reynolds. Cyndi is a volunteer, yet spends countless hours ensuring our finances, and day to day operations run flawlessly. Being a 501c(3) is no small feat when it comes to forms, paper work, filings, and hours yearly doing reporting.

Cyndi does it all with impeccable accuracy, efficiency, and all with our best interests at heart. She does it all with a smile!

We can’t think Cyndi enough for everything she does to support our department.

We wouldn’t be who we are with out her!
