The Annual Business Awards are right around the corner and we need your help nominating this year's recipients. Over the next few weeks we will recap the recipients of each the seven categories over the years. A business receiving an award in the past does not disqualify them from being considered for one this year, but we do encourage nominations of businesses who have yet to be recognized.

Congratulations to our October business spotlight, Sea Bags! Most of you all know and love the Portland-based company, Sea Bags, but did you know their manufacturing facility is right here in South Portland? What started off as one store has since grown to over 35, and every single bag in each of those stores was made in their manufacturing facility in SoPo. They moved into their current warehouse on Cash St. roughly seven years ago and have since found space for every single step of the bag making process, from sail cutting and design, to bag sewing and quality control. In the busy months around the holidays, their facility ships out over 1,000 pieces per day! We love having their facility in SoPo not only because of their sustainable practices and cool bags, but because they employ roughly 75 full and part-time employees. So this holiday season when thinking of what to gift someone, consider a locally-made, sustainable bag!
