We would like to send a HUGE thank you to the South Portland Planet Fitness for donating 2 treadmills, 3 stairmills, 3 stationary bikes, and 2 row machines to our department. These upgrades were picked up by our members and delivered to all 3 stations workout rooms. Thank you Planet Fitness for your support!

Yesterday the ocean was calm and the fish were bountiful as we embarked on our annual Guns vs Hoses fishing tournament hosted by Port Harbor Marine 🎣 This event creates lifelong memories and provides some healthy competition with our friends on South Portland Police Dept. 👮🏻‍♂️👨🏻‍🚒

This year the HOSES took home the title with only a 10 point difference. This gives our members a years worth of bragging rights! Should we tell South Portland Police Dept. that fish don’t like donuts?

A HUGE thank you to Port Harbor Marine and all of the captains who hosted us on their vessels, shared their love for the ocean, and put us on the fish! See you next year 🐠🐟

Today L1476 participated in Portland Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 740 annual softball tournament to benefit their children’s burn foundation. The team represented proudly in our new Beauty Unis threads!

Thank you to everyone who showed up to support our team, our opponents for the friendly competition, as well as the brothers and sisters back at the station answering calls so we could play ball!

See you next year!

Sometimes helping others extends beyond people. This morning, South Portland Firefighters at the Western Avenue Station noticed a hawk who was not behaving normally. They observed what appeared to be an injury and notified the South Portland Police Animal Control Officer. The hawk was safely collected and transported to a location for rehabilitation.

Never forgotten.

It’s been 8 years since we lost one of the best, Lieutenant/ Paramedic Harry Weymouth. Not only in his South Portland career but in his SWAT, Nursing and Buxton FD careers he mentored and helped so many.

Never Forget.

Today we remember Deb Cole, #63, whose dedication, courage, and service to the South Portland Fire Department left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

We honor her sacrifice, celebrate her life, and carry her memory forward with every call we answer.

Rest easy, Deb. We have the watch from here.

We would like to take a moment to recognize all EMS professionals this week. As a cross trained department all of our members respond to both fire and EMS calls. Whether it’s a fire truck or ambulance we are always ready to provide medical care when needed. Happy EMS week!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, mill workers, first responders, hospital staff and Searsmont community affected by yesterday’s tragic fire. The heroic actions by those who responded exemplifies the dedication, commitment, and sacrifice required of this job.
