The South River Police Department is providing an opportunity for the safe disposal of unused or expired medications through their Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative. Stop by South River Police Headquarters (61 Main Street) on Saturday, October 24th between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM to take advantage of this program.

Can't make it? Their Project Medicine Drop program is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the lobby of police headquarters (61 Main Street) to safely dispose of unused or expired medications. For more information, visit the South River Police Department's website and click on Community Programs.

Join South River Recreation for a frightfully spooktacular afternoon at their annual trunk-or-treat!

Both decorated and non-decorated vehicles are welcome. To register your vehicle for the trunk-or-treat, visit the borough's website. The vehicle registration deadline is Wednesday, October 21st.

South River's 2026 fall hydrant flushing program runs from October 13th until October 30th.

To find out when the area of South River you reside in will be affected, visit the borough's website.

During hydrant flushing, there may be a decrease in water pressure as well as a discoloration in the water. This is not harmful and will not affect the safety of the water for drinking and sanitation purposes. If discoloration occurs, run your cold water for several minutes and flush your toilets once or twice to clear your lines. All residents are urged not to do laundry while hydrant flushing is taking place in their neighborhood.
