This Fire Prevention Week is all about lithium-ion batteries! Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces like a desk or table. Beds, couches, and pillows can trap heat and block airflow, which can cause a battery to overheat.

This morning our members took a ride to visit with a member fighting a health battle. Along with neighboring departments and Warriors Watch, we stopped by to remind our brother that we stand with him and nobody fights alone.

Today, SFC hosted our first ever “Junior Day” for teens age 14-17 at Station 2. This opportunity gave a few local teenagers the opportunity to explore the fire service at a basic level. SFC covered basic fire department command structure, responses, operations, and topped the day off with a quick ride in the engine.

Those who joined us got a quick glimpse into and very well may have found a future in the fire service. We were excited to see and host the potential future generation of the fire service today! In case you missed this event and are interested in the fire service, we still encourage you to visit joinsouthamptonfire.org for more information!
