🚜🌾 HAPPY NATIONAL FARMERS DAY! 🌾🚜
Today, October 12th, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue is celebrating the hardworking farmers who help keep food on our tables and our communities thriving! 🌽🐄🚜
Farming is more than a job—it’s a way of life! But with heavy machinery, flammable materials, and long working hours, safety should always be a top priority.
🔥 FARM SAFETY TIPS:
🚜 Maintain Your Equipment: Regularly inspect tractors and farm machinery for fuel leaks, damaged wiring, and buildup of dry vegetation that could cause fires.
🧯 Be Fire Ready: Keep properly rated fire extinguishers accessible in barns, workshops, and on farm equipment. Know how to use them safely!
🌾 Store Hay Safely: Hay stored with excessive moisture can heat up and potentially catch fire through spontaneous combustion. Make sure hay is properly dried before storage.
⚡ Check Electrical Systems Regularly: Barns, workshops, and agricultural buildings can be exposed to dust, moisture, rodents, and harsh conditions that damage electrical systems. Regularly inspect outlets, cords, lighting, and electrical panels for signs of wear, frayed wires, overheating, or damage. Have a qualified electrician inspect and repair any electrical concerns to help prevent fires!
👨👩👧 Keep Little Farmers Safe: Teach children to stay clear of operating equipment, grain bins, and other farm hazards.
❤️ To all our local farmers—THANK YOU! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our community do not go unnoticed.
From our family at Southern Pines Fire & Rescue to yours, stay safe out there! 🚒❤️
