🔥 GRASS FIRE | STRUCTURES THREATENED
Date/Time: Sept 13, 2026, at 12:59 p.m.
Location: 200 Block of Wild Wood Ln.
While enroute to a previously dispatched grass fire, Station 71 was rerouted to a reported fast-moving grass fire threatening multiple structures in the 200 block of Wild Wood Ln.
First-arriving fire units encountered a rapidly spreading grass fire advancing toward multiple structures. With several area fire department resources already committed to another grass fire at a separate location, additional alarms were requested to bring the personnel, apparatus, and water resources needed to safely and effectively control the incident.
Second- and Third-Alarm responses are utilized when the size, complexity, or conditions of an incident require additional resources. During periods of hot, dry weather, grass and vegetation can ignite easily and fire can spread rapidly. When multiple incidents occur simultaneously, additional alarms also help ensure enough resources are available to protect threatened homes and property.
Firefighters from Southmayd, Whitesboro, Collinsville, and Callisburg Fire Departments worked together to stop the fire’s progression, bring the incident under control, and protect the threatened structures.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
🔥 FIRE SAFETY REMINDER
With the continued heat and dry vegetation across our area, fire danger remains elevated. Please use extra caution with outdoor activities, equipment, vehicles, welding, mowing, or anything else capable of producing a spark or igniting dry vegetation.
Please remain fire-aware and help us protect our communities.
