In 2019, Spanish Fork received an offer that would change our community forever...
A gift of millions. A local family met with city leaders and offered millions of dollars to go toward an all-abilities park. They didn’t want recognition then, and they don’t want it now. They simply wanted to do good.
Then came more miracles. Despite plans to develop the land for housing, a landowner and developer reversed course, believing in the vision of the park. The land was sold to the City.
Despite the pandemic, the park was built in just 12 months.
Families shared their wishes. Families of children with disabilities shared what they always wished parks could offer.
Their ideas shaped designs for accessible slides, sensory spaces, wheel-chair friendly water play, adult-size changing tables, one single way to enter and exit the park, and more.
Adventure Heights was born. An image of a compass is used throughout the park. The word “compass” has Latin roots meaning “step together.”
Every open hour since, the park has helped our community and its families step together.
Our hope for every visitor. We hope everyone who experiences Adventure Heights knows three things: I count. I matter. I’m important.
