In observance of Nevada Day, ITCN CCDF offices will be closed Friday, October 31st, and will reopen Monday, November 3rd.
We honor the Indigenous peoples whose homelands make up what is now Nevada, the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), Nuwu (Southern Paiute), and Wašiw (Washoe) Nations.

Child Care Aware Leadership Institute Recap! ✏️
ITCN CCDF joined CCR&R leaders from across the nation to explore the future of child care through collaboration, innovation & leadership. Sessions highlighted the true cost of child care, workforce stabilization and the critical role of child care as an economic issue. These perspectives will help us build a stronger, more equitable system for all Indigenous children. When we strengthen the child care sector, we strengthen every sector.

This month, Storytellers of Our Nations honors Indigenous Peoples’ Day with stories that celebrate language, culture, and community.
🪶Picture Book: Stolen Words by Melanie Florence: A moving story of a granddaughter helping her grandfather reclaim his Cree language, reminding us of the power of words and healing across generations.
🌿Chapter Book: Children of the Longhouse by Joseph Bruchac: A rich story set in a Mohawk village during the 1400s, where twins Ohkwa’ri and Otsi:stia learn about responsibility, courage, and the values of their people.
These books inspire us to celebrate our languages, honor our ancestors, and carry forward the stories that make us strong.

This week, our team was honored to join community leaders, educators, and mental health advocates in exploring strategies to support youth mental wellness at the 2025 Washoe County Youth Mental Health Summit. From teen panels to insightful sessions on su***de prevention and fostering belonging, the summit was a powerful reminder of the importance of community collaboration.
Grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to a brighter future for our youth. ✏️
