🚨 ALLEGHANY COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD 🚨
WHEN EVERY SECOND COUNTS, ACCESS CAN MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.
One of the most essential pieces of equipment in our Search and Rescue (SAR) operations isn’t always the biggest truck in the fleet. Sometimes, it’s the vehicle that can go where those trucks simply cannot.
Our UTV Search and Rescue Unit plays a critical role in protecting the citizens and visitors of Alleghany County.
With our mountainous terrain, remote wooded areas, rugged trails, steep embankments, and waterways, not every emergency happens where an ambulance or rescue truck can reach.
That’s where this specialized vehicle becomes invaluable.
🚨 Search & Rescue: Allows our personnel to rapidly access remote locations during missing-person searches, wilderness emergencies, and rescue operations.
🚨 Patient Transportation: Equipped with the capability to transport an injured or ill patient using a Stokes rescue basket, allowing us to evacuate patients from difficult terrain to an awaiting ambulance or higher level of medical care.
🚨 Rapid Medical Response: Carries trained personnel and essential medical equipment into areas inaccessible to conventional emergency vehicles.
🚨 Technical Rescue Support: Transports rescue personnel, specialized tools, ropes, equipment, and supplies to challenging rescue scenes.
🚨 Off-Road Capabilities: Provides access to wooded areas, creek crossings, rugged trails, and remote locations where traditional emergency apparatus cannot operate.
🚨 Mutual Aid Operations: Supports neighboring fire departments, EMS agencies, law enforcement, and other emergency response organizations during search and rescue incidents.
WHY IS THIS VEHICLE SO IMPORTANT?
Imagine a hunter suffering a medical emergency deep in the woods, a missing child in a remote area, an injured hiker miles from the nearest roadway, or a patient who cannot walk out of difficult terrain.
Without specialized off-road rescue equipment, reaching and evacuating these individuals can require significantly more personnel, time, and physical effort.
This UTV helps us reduce those challenges, get rescuers and equipment closer to the emergency, and provide a safer means of patient evacuation.
This isn’t a recreational vehicle. It’s a specialized emergency response asset with the potential to save lives.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) rescue organization, Alleghany County Rescue Squad remains committed to maintaining the equipment, training, and capabilities necessary to serve our community.
Our mission doesn’t end where the pavement stops.
When the road ends, our commitment to saving lives continues.
