Be one of the first to experience the Wonder Dome in a Sensory - Meditation session on October 19th, 2026 with 3 - 40 minute showtimes available:
1) 3 - 3:40 PM
2) 4 - 4:40 PM
3) 5 - 5:40 PM

Call us at 336-372-5573 to reserve your spot within the dome. Limited spaces available for each showtime.
With great thanks to our Digital Inclusion Grant, Made available by the High Country Council of Government, our public library is able to provide this amazing experience free to our community.
If bringing children, you must register them as well as yourself, but also, rules must be followed for everyone's safety and enjoyment. Everyone must be able to remain seated for the entire showtime. No re-entry once you exit the dome. No running or rough play will be permitted. Children must be supervised at all times. Photos and videos are welcome, but no flash, please!

It's Fire Prevention Week, so our Storytime Friends met Ms. Maggie and Ms. Dottie at the Alleghany-Sparta Volunteer Fire Department for fun books, dances and a make and take fire truck craft! Our Volunteer Fireman, Mr. Mikey helped our friends in and out of the fire truck for photos and sirens! The kids had a blast!
Our friends at the VFD are hosting a parade on October 8th in Sparta, leading back to the fire house for a Free community event at 7 PM. Check them out for more Fire Safety information and Fun!

The Alleghany Branch of NWRL, was honored to present for the first time, historically, at the North Carolina Digital Information Technological Conference, in Durham,NC on 9/30.
We will leave the article to the news, as it is an excellent column,to not say to much here, but just know that Ms.Jenn represented Alleghany County extremely well, and we are most definitely on the map, with eyes on our mountainous area. The entire State was highly responsive and applause was given for the representation of “How rural workforce shows up in our communities, in regards to technology.” Our fireside chat was truly amazing with a fantastic panel of brilliant and driven individuals, who are leading the pathway. Read all about it in the Alleghany News in upcoming issues. 😃
