Parasite Patrol Helps Sheep and Goat Producers Improve Parasite Monitoring and Management
Sheep and goats across Iowa and Wisconsin face a microscopic threat with monumental health concerns. Internal parasites of sheep and goats decrease production and animal health and can also cause death. Meanwhile, the dewormers used over the past 60 years have become less effective.
The Parasite Patrol and Parasite Patrol Plus programs provide producers with practical tools and science-based recommendations to better understand the parasites, integrated parasite management strategies, and f***l egg counting (FEC) and FAMACHA as measuring and monitoring tools.
The Parasite Patrol program is an in-depth educational program combined with hands-on training for performing f***l egg counts.
The Parasite Patrol Plus program includes the in-depth educational program, hands-on training for performing f***l egg counts, and FAMACHA certification.
These programs are designed for sheep and goat producers, but anyone interested in understanding internal small ruminant parasites, monitoring strategies, and management are encouraged to attend.
The Parasite Patrol and Parasite Patrol Plus programs will be offered at several locations across Iowa. Select locations will be offering the Parasite Patrol Plus program.
