Spirit Lake Fire Protection District This is the official page for Spirit Lake Fire Protection District in Spirit Lake, Idaho. We proudly serve both Bonner and Kootenai Counties.

The District provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services to approximately 15,750 people, which reside in both Kootenai and Bonner County. The majority of the firefighter and medical personnel are dual trained. When an emergency call comes in, they are toned and respond within minutes. The District receives support from citizens and local businesses whenever needed, and the District thanks the community for their continued support regarding Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Without community support, our efforts would go without notice.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001, we remember those who lost their lives and honor the heroes who rushed toward danger to help others.

The events of that day forever changed our nation and left a lasting impact on the fire service. The courage displayed by first responders and ordinary citizens continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the strength, unity, and resilience of the American spirit.

Today, we invite our community to join us in remembering and honoring all those affected by 9/11.

May we never forget their sacrifice, and may we always remember the lessons of service, courage, and compassion that emerged from tragedy.

It was a special morning at yesterday’s Board meeting as we recognized two important milestones for our district.

First, we were proud to officially swear in Captain Isaac Irving as he takes on this new leadership role within the district. His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community have earned him this achievement, and we look forward to seeing him excel in his new role.
We also welcomed our newest member, Firefighter/EMT Aaron Fletcher, who was officially sworn in and began his journey with our district.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Irving on his promotion and welcoming Firefighter/EMT Aaron Fletcher to the team. We are proud to have both serving our community!

Today marks the anniversary of a profound loss. We honor the memory of Battalion Chiefs Frank Harwood (KCFR) and John Morrison, Jr. (CDAFD), who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We also honor Engineer Dave Tysdal (CDAFD, Ret.) whose strength and resilience continue to inspire. Their service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We will always remember.
