HAPPY BOSS’S DAY TO CHIEF WALLY WIEGHAT!

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize the man who leads the Splendora Police Department — Chief Wally Wieghat!

Being a Chief of Police is no small responsibility. It takes dedication, patience, sacrifice, and a genuine commitment to both the officers who wear the badge and the community they serve.

Chief Wieghat leads with a strong sense of purpose, a commitment to doing what’s right, and a passion for making Splendora a better and safer place to call home.

While today may be Boss’s Day, we know his responsibilities don’t end when the workday does. From the challenges behind the scenes to the decisions that come with leading a police department, there’s a lot that goes into the job that most people never see.

Chief, we appreciate your leadership, your dedication, and most importantly, the trust and support you give the men and women of this department.

We may not tell you enough, but your hard work does not go unnoticed!

From your Splendora Police Department family, Happy Boss’s Day, Chief! Thank you for everything you do for our officers, our department, and the citizens of Splendora!

A Message from the Chief of Police:

“As Chief of Police, I firmly believe that strong communities are built on meaningful relationships, mutual support, and partnerships with those who genuinely care about making a difference.

Husteel America continues to demonstrate what it means to be a true community partner. This is not the first time they have generously supported our community, and I want them to know that their continued kindness and willingness to give back do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

What makes their generosity especially meaningful is that, despite being relatively new to Splendora, they have already shown a sincere commitment to investing in our community and supporting the people who call it home.

On behalf of the Splendora Police Department, I want to personally thank Husteel America for their continued generosity and support of the Splendora Police Officers Association. We are grateful for their partnership and look forward to strengthening that relationship for years to come.

💚🚔 Thank You for Supporting Those Who Serve 🚔💚
Today, GFL Environmental partnered with Boots For Troops, an organization whose mission is to uplift and empower the morale and mental well-being of our active-duty military members, veterans, and military spouses.
As part of the Chow for Charity lunch event, GFL Environmental purchased meals from Texas Roadhouse and delivered them to police departments throughout the area. Even more impactful, 100% of the proceeds from the event will go directly to Boots For Troops to help support and further their mission.
We are grateful to GFL Environmental, Texas Roadhouse, and Boots For Troops for their generosity and commitment to serving those who serve others. Partnerships like these strengthen our communities and make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
Thank you for thinking of our department and for supporting such a worthy cause!
💚💙

SEPTEMBER 2026 MONTHLY CRIME BLOTTER

The Splendora Police Department remained busy throughout September, responding to and documenting 1,749 total incidents across our community.
Throughout the month, our officers continued focusing on proactive patrols, crime prevention, traffic safety, criminal investigations, and assisting our citizens and neighboring law enforcement agencies.

September activity included 445 area and extra patrols, 284 building checks, 42 assists to other agencies, 30 welfare checks, and 29 crashes.
Officers also investigated and made arrests involving DWI, narcotics, theft, robbery, stolen vehicles, family violence, and other criminal activity. September included 7 DWI incidents and the recovery of 2 stolen vehicles.

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent the daily work of our officers to remain visible, proactive, and responsive to the needs of the citizens we serve.

Chief Wally Wieghat and the men and women of the Splendora Police Department remain committed to keeping our community safe and providing professional law enforcement services to the City of Splendora.

DWI ARREST — UNDER 21

While Splendora Police officers were conducting a separate DWI investigation, a Splendora Police Department supervisor observed the pictured vehicle pass the scene without slowing down or moving over as required by Texas law. The vehicle was also observed operating with an inoperative taillight.

The supervisor initiated a traffic stop and, upon making contact with the driver, detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver.

Following a roadside DWI investigation, the driver, who was under the age of 21, was determined to be intoxicated and was placed into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.

The driver is being transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

This arrest serves as another reminder: slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles, and never get behind the wheel after drinking.

DWI ARREST AFTER NEAR COLLISION WITH PATROL VEHICLES

While officers were assisting another Splendora Police Officer on a separate traffic stop, the driver of an approaching vehicle nearly rear-ended patrol vehicles that were stopped with their emergency equipment activated.

Officers immediately conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Almost immediately upon making contact with the driver, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.

When officers instructed the driver to exit the vehicle, he was extremely unsteady on his feet and officers had to catch him to prevent him from falling.

Following a roadside investigation, the driver was placed into custody for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and is being transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

This incident is another reminder of just how quickly impaired driving can turn deadly. Our officers were already on the side of the roadway conducting their duties when an impaired driver nearly struck their patrol vehicles.

If you drink, don’t drive. The few seconds it takes to make another choice could save a life.
