Suspected Trespasser Lies About Identity, Flees on Foot, Arrested
Later Found to Have Active Felony and Misdemeanor Warrants

Spokane Valley Homeless Outreach Unit contacted an adult male who was trespassing on private property. He was offered services but refused any assistance. He lied about his identity, providing the Deputy with a false name and date of birth that were needed to document the trespassing advisory. When confronted with providing false information and told he was not free to leave, he failed to follow numerous commands before attempting to flee on foot. The Deputy gave chase, caught up, and successfully took him into custody. He refused to talk to Deputies or medical personnel. Later, after being booked into jail, Corrections Officers confirmed the suspect’s identity and learned he had active felony and misdemeanor warrants.

On October 20, 2026, at approximately 10:30 am, a Spokane Valley Homeless Outreach Unit contacted an adult male suspect who was actively trespassing on private property in the 14100 block of E. Mansfield Court. Knowing the property owner had an active no-trespassing authorization request on file, which authorized Deputies to enforce and remove trespassers, the Deputy offered the male services and asked for his name to document the trespass notification. He refused services and provided a name and date of birth.

The Deputy checked the information, which returned as no record found. Recognizing this is an indicator of dishonesty, the Deputy asked for his identifying information again and confirmed spelling. Again, no record was found with the information the suspect provided.

Believing the suspect was fraudulently providing false information to hide his real identity, the Deputy requested additional assistance and informed the suspect that he was detained and not free to leave.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Zachary J. J. Craig, became defiant, refusing to follow numerous lawful commands to sit on the ground. Suddenly, Craig began running east through the field. Via radio, the Deputy requested emergency assistance and advised of the foot pursuit while giving chase.

As Craig continued running, he ignored multiple commands to stop despite warnings that force would be used if he didn’t. During his ill-conceived attempt to escape across the uneven, undeveloped field, Craig tripped and fell but quickly regained his feet and kept running.

The Deputy, closing in quickly, grabbed him and pulled him to the ground. Craig continued to resist and try to get back to his feet, but the Deputy kept him pinned until additional Deputies arrived. After being placed in handcuffs, he was offered medical assistance, but he did not want to speak with medical personnel or Deputies.

Although Craig’s true identity had not been confirmed, Deputies transported and booked him into the Spokane County Jail on charges of Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree, Providing False Information to Law Enforcement, and Resisting Arrest.

The following day, at approximately 3:00 pm, Corrections Officers advised the Deputy that Craig’s identity had been confirmed, and he had an active Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) Escape Community Custody felony warrant and a Stevens County misdemeanor DUI warrant for his arrest. The Washington State DOC warrant showed an original charge of Assault 2nd Degree with a Deadly Weapon.

Alert Victim Locates Stolen Vehicle, Two Suspects Detained, Stolen Vehicle Investigation Continues

Spokane Valley Deputies recovered a reported stolen vehicle after an alert victim found it at a residence on Broadway Avenue, east of N. Ella Road. Deputies established a perimeter around the house, made PA announcements advising occupants inside to exit, and began the process of requesting a search warrant. They detained an adult male who exited, but an adult female remained inside. After approximately an hour, Deputies coaxed the female out of the residence and detained her. The female was arrested for violating a domestic violence no contact order. Deputies could not establish probable cause that either suspect knew the vehicle was stolen. Lacking the probable cause needed to charge the male with a crime, Deputies released him. They seized the recovered stolen vehicle as evidence, and the investigation into its theft continues.

# # #

On October 19, 2026, at approximately 4:30 pm, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a residence in the 8000 block of E. Broadway Avenue in Spokane Valley.

The caller/victim stated she found her Lexus, which she had reported stolen on October 8, 2026. She also reported that someone had burglarized her home earlier in the summer.

She explained that she was driving around nearby neighborhoods to locate her vehicle when she saw a similar Lexus behind her on Broadway near Park Road. She confirmed it was her stolen car and saw it turn into the driveway of a home in the 8000 block of E. Broadway.

After driving around the block, she didn't see anyone near her car and couldn't identify who had been driving it.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home and began PA announcements advising anyone inside to exit, as they worked to obtain a search warrant.

Soon after, an adult male (38) exited the house and Deputies detained him. A check of his name revealed he is a convicted felon and that he was the protected party of a served Domestic Violence No Contact Order. The protection order restrained 43-year-old Nina M. Womble from contacting the male or entering, remaining, or coming within 1000 feet of his location or residence on Broadway. The male identified Womble as the female inside the home.

After being advised of his rights, the male said Womble arrived a couple of days ago with the Lexus, and he didn’t ask her any questions about it. He also admitted he knew about the protection order and didn’t want it in place, but he didn’t have the option to have it dropped. He said Womble was not complying because she didn’t want to go to jail.

Deputies continued to give PA announcements advising Womble to follow commands and exit the home, but she did not comply.
At approximately 6:00 pm, Womble called Crime Check and asked why law enforcement wanted her to exit the residence. Her call was forwarded to a Deputy on scene.

At approximately 6:10 pm, Deputies coaxed her into complying, and she was detained.

After being advised of her rights, Womble agreed to answer questions. She said the male bought the victim’s Lexus for $700 from a Craigslist seller. She was not with the male when he purchased the car, and there was a bill of sale, but she didn’t know where it was. She also said the vehicle's key was on a bed inside the residence.

Womble and the male gave Deputies consent to retrieve the stolen vehicle and the key.

Because Deputies could not determine who was driving the stolen Lexus when the victim located it, and with both suspects providing differing stories about the Lexus, with neither admitting they knew it was stolen, Deputies could not establish probable cause to charge either of them with theft or knowingly possessing a stolen vehicle.

Lacking the probable cause needed to charge the male, they later released him. Womble was arrested for Violation of a Domestic Violence Order of Protection.

Deputies seized the Lexus as evidence, and the theft investigation remains active.

Womble was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail on the Domestic Violence Order Violation charge.

Vehicle Prowler, Observed on Security Camera, Arrested

Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a report of a suspect actively entering vehicles at a business in the 10000 block of E. Sprague Avenue. Off-site security provided a description of the suspect and his direction of travel. Deputies arrived and, through their investigation, learned the suspect had an active arrest warrant. They later booked him into jail on his warrant and on new charges.

On October 14, 2026, at approximately 3:45 am, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a reported vehicle prowling in the 10000 block of E. Sprague Avenue. The caller, off-site security using video security cameras, observed a male suspect trying doors and going through cars in the business’s parking lot.

The caller provided a description of the suspect and his last known direction of travel.

Deputies arrived in the area and contacted an adult male who matched the description security provided. They detained the male, identified as 34-year-old Bogdan G. Pustovit, and advised him of his rights.

Pustovit admitted he tried door handles in the parking lot and got lucky, finding one that was unlocked. He entered the vehicle hoping to get cash but only found a gift card and some papers, which he took. He also said he knew he was being surveilled because an audible alarm kept going off, warning him that he was being recorded. Eventually, he decided to leave, knowing that law enforcement had probably been called.

A check of Pustovit’s name revealed an active arrest warrant stemming from an incident on September 17, 2026, also in Spokane Valley, where he was arrested for Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Obstructing, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The following day, September 18, 2026, Spokane County District Court ordered him released on his own recognizance.

Pustovit was arrested on his warrant and during a search, Deputies located suspected Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia, the stolen gift card, and other items.

Deputies transported Pustovit and booked him into the Spokane County Jail on new charges of Vehicle Prowling 2nd Degree, Theft 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, in addition to his warrant for Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Obstructing, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

VIDEO: Three Juvenile Suspected Prowlers Flee on Foot from Deputies - Air 2 Assists in Locating the Trio, Eventually Resulting in Their Arrests

Spokane Valley and Spokane County Deputies responded to a victim who reported that three males broke into her car, and she scared them off by activating the remote locks of her vehicle. Air 2 located the three suspects shortly after as Deputies flooded the area. When Deputies approached, one suspect was quickly detained, and two suspects fled on foot. Deputies caught a second suspect soon after, while Air 2 stayed with the third suspect, who continued to run. Air 2 guided Deputies to a building where the suspect was last seen and believed to have entered an apartment. With the last suspect identified, Deputies continued efforts to locate him and later arrested him at his home. All three suspects were juveniles, ages 14, 14, and 17.

# # #

On October 10, 2026, at approximately 10:50 pm, Spokane Valley and Spokane County Deputies responded to the report of vehicle prowlers in the 16800 block of E. Mission Parkway in Spokane Valley.

The caller/victim stated she caught three males inside her vehicle. She scared them away by remotely locking the car doors. The suspects fled toward N. Flora Road, and the victim followed, providing updates despite being advised to keep her distance and not to follow the suspects for her safety.

Spokane County Regional Air Support Unit (SRASU) Air 2, already airborne, quickly located the suspects near Flora and Mission. Deputies began coordinating their approach, anticipating a high probability that the suspects would run.

At Cataldo and Flora, Deputies driving fully marked patrol cars with emergency lights activated moved in, and as suspected, two fled on foot, and the third was quickly detained.

The 17-year-old immediately clutched his waistline, a common area to conceal/carry weapons, as he fled on foot, despite lawful commands to stop. A pursuing Deputy warned that if he continued to run and did not follow commands, he would be tased. After hearing these warnings and directives, the suspect made the right decision and got on the ground as instructed. The Deputy safely took him into custody.

Air 2 followed the 14-year-old, advising that he doubled back, crossed Flora, and ran into the southeast corner of an apartment complex in the 17000 block of E. Desmet Court. Air 2 lost sight of the suspect when he entered the breezeway of a building on the complex's southeast corner.

Deputies quickly established a perimeter and searched for the last remaining suspect, but they did not locate him. Believing the suspect entered one of the apartments, Deputies continued the investigation and learned his identity.

Deputies, along with Washington State Patrol Troopers and Liberty Lake Police Officers, searched the area, but they did not locate him.

At approximately 1:05 am, Deputies were advised the last remaining suspect had returned home. They responded and took him into custody.

Deputies transported and booked all three juveniles into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.

The 17-year-old was charged with Vehicle Prowling 2nd Degree, Possession of Cannabis Under 21, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, and Theft 3rd Degree.

The 14-year-old who did not run was charged with Vehicle Prowling 2nd Degree and Theft 3rd Degree.

The 14-year-old who ran was charged with Vehicle Prowling 2nd Degree, Theft 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

On October 8, 2026, in Spokane County Superior Court, Bart J. Adams (46) was sentenced to 9 months of Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) after a jury found him guilty of Felony Stalking, Domestic Violence (DV) last month.

The case stems from incidents occurring over several months in 2024. Court documents and trial testimony detail how Adams and his wife lived together in Spokane until late 2023. She reported domestic violence and moved from the home to a location undisclosed to Adams and immediately obtained security cameras for her new residence. She was also granted a protection order. In January 2025, Adams sat down for an interview with law enforcement on an unrelated matter during which he disclosed the surveillance. The cameras were somehow linked to Adams’ Roku TV giving him access to substantial footage of his wife and her children. After law enforcement executed a search warrant on Adams’ phone, hours of surveillance footage of the victim, her home, and the children were discovered.

Adams contended he did not know he was committing a crime by having access to the videos and that he primarily viewed them to check on the couple’s children. However, Adams was prohibited by a protection order from keeping his wife under electronic surveillance. Adams testified at trial that he had reviewed that protection order and its terms.

At the sentencing hearing, the victim said she feared for her safety when she lived with Adams, and the fear continued even after she fled. Learning Adams was monitoring her through video surveillance compounded that fear and the victim relayed she is still dealing with the trauma of being stalked. The State argued for the mid-range of the sentencing guidelines (9 months). In this case, Adams’ prior criminal history did not increase his offender score due to the length of time since his last offense. Thus, Adams’s sentencing range, with no scorable criminal history, was 6 to 12 months in jail. The State noted Adams’s continued and prolonged viewing of his wife in the privacy of her home and his disregard for court orders. Defense asked that Adams be sentenced to the low-end of the sentencing range and that he serves his time under EHM, arguing that Adams viewing of his wife was not to harass or cause harm to her. Judge Breean Beggs sentenced Adams to the mid-range of the guidelines and ruled he can serve his time on EHM, saying he sees little risk of Adams continuing to stalk the victim through surveillance as it has been several years since the incidents and Adams has not reoffended during that time. Judge Beggs also noted that it is a serious violation of someone’s peace of mind to be watched and he urged Adams to follow the law.

Reckless and Suspected Impaired Driving Leads to a Crash and Arrest

While off duty, a Spokane County Deputy observed an SUV rapidly approach and recklessly pass him at an estimated 80-100 mph as he drove south on Barker Road from Trent Avenue. While off-duty and driving a privately owned vehicle, the Deputy did not take action and remained a good witness, per policy. Moments later, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed near I-90. The Deputy contacted the suspect, identified himself as a Deputy, and advised the suspect that he was under arrest. The suspect, believed to be impaired, was not cooperative, causing the Deputy to request emergency assistance via 911. The suspect was taken into custody. Due to the crash and additional medical needs, he was provided medical treatment.

# # #

On October 10, 2026, at approximately 12:30 am, an off-duty Spokane County Deputy was traveling south on Barker Road, south of Trent Avenue, in a privately owned vehicle, when he observed a car rapidly approaching from behind. The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Adam H. Evans, approached so quickly and got so close to the rear of the Deputy’s vehicle that he thought he was going to be rear-ended.

Evans swerved out and passed the Deputy in a no-passing zone, using the turn lane to complete the pass at an estimated speed of 80-100 mph.

Because of Evans’ speed and recklessness, the Deputy could not read the SUV’s license plate. Evans continued his reckless behavior, eventually lost control, and crashed off the roadway. He observed Evans exit the driver’s seat of the now-wrecked car. Evans did not appear injured, but he seemed highly agitated as he walked toward other uninvolved vehicles on the I-90 off-ramp.

Due to Evans’ reckless driving and utter disregard for the safety of others on the roadway, the Deputy suspected Evans of possibly being impaired. Fearing Evans would contact one of the uninvolved motorists and possibly assault them or attempt to steal a vehicle to flee the scene, the Deputy approached Evans, identified himself as a Deputy, and told Evans that he was under arrest for reckless driving. Evans became argumentative, and his agitation escalated.

The Deputy took hold of Evans’ wrist to control his movements while giving commands, but Evans tensed up. The Deputy told Evans to go to the ground, and he began to comply while cursing at the Deputy.

With Evans semi-controlled, the Deputy called 911 to request emergency assistance, but Evans continued screaming and rolled over, knocking the phone out of the Deputy’s hand. Evans continued to resist as the Deputy regained control and reacquired his phone to update 911.

Additional Deputies and Liberty Lake Police Officers arrived to assist, and they secured Evans in handcuffs.

Deputies checked Evans’ wrecked car and observed the airbags had been deployed; no one else was inside, and they noticed a pistol on the driver’s side floorboard with a loaded magazine near it.

A check of Evans’ name revealed his driver’s license was suspended, and that he was required to have an ignition interlock device installed. Deputies noted that the vehicle Evans was driving did not have one. His criminal history also showed a prior DUI conviction earlier this year.

A Deputy contacted Evans, who was seated in the back of a patrol car, and advised him of his rights. As he did, he could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Evans. When asked if he understood his rights or wanted to answer questions, Evans would not respond. Because Evans did not respond, Deputies focused on his welfare. Fearing for his safety because he had been involved in a significant crash, medical assistance was requested. In addition, they suspected Evans was possibly suffering from an overdose, and they administered Naloxone. After the second dose, Evans became alert.

He continued to be uncooperative and aggressive, even with medical personnel attempting to help him.

This behavior continued even after arriving at the hospital, where Evans yelled about aliens trying to hurt him.

Deputies requested and were granted a search warrant, and a sample of Evans’ blood was obtained for later testing.

With Evans clearly in crisis and in need of additional medical care, he was issued criminal citations for DUI, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Interlock Device, and Driving While Suspended, instead of being booked into jail.

His vehicle was seized as evidence pending a search warrant.

This remains an active investigation; no further information is available for release.
