CHRISTIAN COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT

Due to ongoing dry conditions, increased fire danger, and current weather forecasts, Christian County has issued a countywide burn ban effective immediately. The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including the burning of brush, debris, and other combustible materials, until further notice. County officials are taking this precautionary measure to reduce the risk of wildfires that could threaten lives, property, and natural resources. County officials, emergency responders and local fire departments are urging residents to use extreme caution with any activities that could produce sparks or open flames.

The burn ban will remain in effect for 30 days from adoption, or until conditions improve, and fire danger decreases. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official county communication channels for updates regarding the status of the ban. Anyone found violating the burn ban may be subject to penalties as provided by state and local regulations. County leaders appreciate the public’s cooperation and commitment to helping protect the community during this period of heightened fire risk.

Here's your reminder. We still have dangerously dry conditions.

BURN ADVISORY — OUTDOOR BURNING STRONGLY DISCOURAGED

Highlandville Fire Protection District is currently advising residents against all outdoor burning.

This is a burn advisory, not a burn ban. However, current conditions make outdoor burning dangerous, and restrictions could change if conditions worsen.

Dry grass and vegetation can ignite easily. Wind can carry sparks and embers well beyond the original burn area, allowing even a small, controlled fire to escape and spread rapidly. Brush piles, leaves, trash, campfires, and other outdoor fires can quickly threaten nearby fields, woods, homes, vehicles, and other property.

Please postpone all outdoor burning until conditions improve.
If a fire escapes your control, call 911 immediately. Do not wait for it to grow before requesting help.

We will continue monitoring conditions and share updates if the advisory changes.

Yesterday, Tanker 73 was dispatched to assist Nixa Fire Protection District with a mutual aid request at a house fire. Nixa crews did an excellent job working quickly to get the fire out.

We’re always happy to answer the call when one of our neighboring departments needs an extra hand. Mutual aid is an important part of the fire service, and working together helps ensure our communities have the personnel, equipment, and resources they need when an emergency occurs.

We’re grateful for the neighboring departments who respond when Highlandville needs assistance, and we’re proud to return that support whenever we’re called.

Thank you to the crews of Nixa Fire Protection District and all of our mutual aid partners for the work you do to keep our communities safe.

Neighbors helping neighbors. That’s what the fire service is all about.
