* WVSD Social Media Community Guidelines *

West Valley School District social media pages focus on celebrating and supporting our schools, students and staff, as well sharing important news and event information. Social media also creates the opportunity for open communication and dialogue about our district and school programs. While everyone is encouraged to comment, our first priority is to protect students, staff and community members. We have established the following guidelines for those who wish to visit or interact with WVSD accounts. By following, liking, commenting, sharing or otherwise engaging with this page, you agree to follow the Rules of Engagement below.

- Practice good digital citizenship. People making comments on our page are requested to show respect for their fellow users by conducting themselves as they would when entering our schools.

- Be respectful. We have a zero-tolerance policy for cyberbullying and/or posts that are political, racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene or contain falsehoods that are wildly off-topic or that harass, libel, incite, threaten or make ad hominem attacks on students, staff, guest or other individuals.

- Stay on topic. This is a page dedicated to the education of students in the West Valley School District. We do not permit messages selling products or promoting commercial or other ventures. In addition, the appearance of external links posted by followers of this page does not constitute endorsement on behalf of WVSD and, in most cases, these links will be removed.

- Stick with the facts. In accordance with Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) guidelines, this page is not a place to promote or oppose any personal campaigning for election to a political office nor promote or oppose any ballot proposition. However, we may provide factual information concerning district ballot measures as well as share posts of appreciation to supporters and community partners.

- Follow the rules. Remember that your name and photo will be seen next to your comment, visible to anyone who visits the page. You should not provide private information (phone, email, address, etc.) to others on this page.

- Note on Public Records: Per public records laws, comments and messages on or to WVSD social media accounts could be included in a public records request.

- Failure to follow the above guidelines may result in action without notice to the user. This can include comments being hidden or removed and/or a user being banned, blocked or muted. This page and its comments are moderated by WVSD and school staff. All school- or district-related questions or issues should be directed to the appropriate school or staff member. If you need help determining who to contact, call 509-924-2150 or visit wvsd.org.

Prop 1: the people in our buildings
The EP&O levy accounts for 15% of the district’s overall budget, and nearly half of those dollars — 45% — provide funding for teachers, classified staff, school administration, and technology staff. Another 2% provides funding for counselors and nurses. These are roles the state does not fully fund, which means levy dollars are a big part of what keeps them in our schools. Prop 1 would continue that funding for three more years. Learn more about the EP&O levy renewal at bit.ly/WV2026levies

Seth Woodard students made beautiful works of art with Mrs. Fennen, our art teacher. We partnered with counselors at five schools in Spokane Public Schools who are distributing these to their families who were fire victims alongside other resources these families need. We are so grateful for Mrs. Fennen and the time and care she took in making this project come to life!

We have some incredible staff members here at Seth Woodard! Last Friday, Mrs. Willard was nominated for the WV Above and Beyond Award by Mrs. Gossard and Miss Nikki, Miss Kayla, and Miss Rene were nominated by Miss Laurie and Miss Nikki in the office. These amazing women are so well deserving for all the time, effort, love, care, and patience they put into their work. Join me in congratulating these wonderful staff members of ours!

What’s on the ballot:
West Valley has two measures on the November 3 ballot. Propositions 1 and 2 are replacement levies, they replace levies our community approved in 2024 that expire in 2027, so they are not new taxes. Prop. 1 is a three-year Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy that funds the staff, services and programs the state does not fully fund as part of “basic education.” Prop. 2 is a two-year Capital Projects levy for safety, security and infrastructure improvements. The two work together to support every student and school. We will be sharing regular information throughout the fall. Learn more at bit.ly/WV2026levies

It is so hard to get pictures of our amazing custodians-they are always working in the background to make sure our building is clean and ready for learning each day. Aaron is here bright and early each day making sure classrooms are ready, cleaning up after the kiddos, fixing what we break, and so much more! Deanna stays so late also making sure classrooms are ready and has even made an award called the Little Winston for the cleanest classrooms! The students are taking ownership over their space making the chairs are stacked and the floor is free of trash. The competition is a fun addition to our Wolf Pack. Thank you Aaron and Deanna for all you do to help our students learn each day! Happy Custodian Appreciation Day!! 🐾
