Spokane Domestic Violence Coalition Our Mission is to empower and educate our collective community to End The Violence. 💜 We ask all users to treat each other with respect.

Online Policy:
The Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Coalition (Coalition) is committed to the elimination of domestic violence through collaboration and partnership with community agencies/entities made up from various sectors including law enforcement, government officials, victim advocacy groups, treatment providers, school representatives, and family and child-serving organizations, amongst others. The Coalition is focused on preventing domestic violence; educating the general public and creating awareness about domestic violence; and continued community collaboration and coordination in eliminating domestic violence. Because we are a Coalition made up of many community stakeholders that are each governed by their own policies and procedures, there are certain topics we won’t be able or willing to talk about here, and some of your discussions may need to be redirected or curtailed for the same reason. To protect the safety and confidentiality of survivors, we will not engage in conversation about individual situations within a public forum. We want to hear from members of our community and encourage comments, critiques, questions, and suggestions. We ask that you simply stay on topic, respect other people’s opinions, avoid profanity and bullying, offensive statements, illegal content, and anything else that might otherwise violate our standard terms and conditions. Users may disagree with an idea; however, they must be respectful of others at all times. Insults, threats or harassment of other users, organizations or employees are prohibited. The Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Coalition reserves the right to ban any user from our page without prior written notice or consent for violations of community policies. Any comment(s) posted which we deem to be criminal in nature, or instigates or implies violence toward oneself or another may be reported to the proper authorities.

Intimidation is a tactic used to make someone feel unsafe, powerless or afraid to make their own choices. Love should never rely on fear or control.

This Domestic Violence Action Month we encourage you to learn the signs and help spread awareness. 💜 You never know who might need to see this post.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, support is available. You are not alone.

Thank you, Mayor Lisa Brown, for proclaiming October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Spokane and recognizing the devastating impact domestic violence has on our community.

Awareness is just the beginning. We all have a role to play in creating a safer, more supportive community where everyone can live free from violence and fear.

Here are three simple ways you can make a difference:

💜 Learn the signs. Educate yourself about domestic violence and recognize that abuse can take many forms.
💜 Listen without judgment.Believe survivors, offer support, and remind them they are not alone.
💜 Spread awareness. Share resources, start conversations, and help break the stigma surrounding domestic violence.

Let’s build a community rooted in support and hope!

Let’s get familiar with another tactic on the Power & Control Wheel: Emotional Abuse.

Emotional abuse can be difficult to recognize. Especially when hurtful behaviors are disguised as jokes. Dismissing your feelings, undermining your self-worth, name-calling, and gaslighting are not signs of a healthy relationship.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts. You’re not alone, and support is available.

We are so excited for this event on Saturday! Thank you YWCA Spokane for holding this special, free, family-friendly community event called Our Stories: HerStory at the Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC).

This event celebrates the women and community members who have helped shape our city through YWCA Spokane’s 123 years of service, while honoring the stories, resilience, and strength of survivors whose voices carry that legacy forward.

Sometimes the best response to difficult people is… no response

The Grey Rock Method is all about keeping things neutral, brief, and boring when you’re dealing with someone who thrives on conflict or emotional reactions.

Save this for when you need the reminder 🪨💜
