A small but mighty crew worked to clean, rake and bag needles, mow, and make ready The Living Classroom for several fall projects in the next couple of weeks.

Recess with Dads: A Wonderful Morning at Evergreen!

What an incredible turnout for Evergreen Elementary’s recent Recess with Dads event! Our playground was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of fun as dads, grandpas, and other trusted adults joined their children for a special morning together.

We kicked things off with donuts, coffee, juice, and opportunities to capture a few memorable photos. But the real highlight was something much simpler—spending quality time with our kids! Whether playing games, enjoying recess, or simply hanging out together, our guests brought an amazing energy to Evergreen.

Events like Recess with Dads remind us that family engagement doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s simply about showing up, slowing down, and being present in the lives of our children.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! The turnout was absolutely terrific, and seeing so many families connecting with their children and our school community was something special.

Need a Winter Coat? We’ve Got You Covered!

As the colder weather approaches, we want our Evergreen families to know that we have winter coats available for anyone in our school community who may need one! We have a variety of sizes, from smaller children’s coats to adult sizes up to medium.

If your child or someone in your family could use a warm coat this winter, please reach out to our school office. We’re happy to help!

That’s what being part of the Evergreen family is all about—taking care of one another!

Generation Alive is a Spokane-based nonprofit youth development organization that inspires students, from elementary through high school, to lead with compassion, serve others, and make a meaningful difference in their communities.

Yesterday, Evergreen kicked off our partnership with Generation Alive through an all-school assembly!

Over the next couple of weeks, our Mustangs will not only raise funds to support families facing food insecurity but will also roll up their sleeves and help assemble meals for those in need.

What an incredible opportunity for our students! Learning about empathy, compassion, and the challenges others face is important. But turning that understanding into meaningful action—actually preparing meals that will help feed families in our community—is something truly special.

This is kindness, compassion, and service in action. And that’s what being an Evergreen Mustang is all about!

Today, both Evergreen and Creekside Elementary School staff got together to learn from Dr. Flint Simonsen, former Whitworth professor and specialist in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

We began the year in August with Dr. Simonson, reviewed today, and intend to continue our learning on the March learning improvement day.

Teacher learning helps support students all year long in being successful—academically and socially/emotionally.

What an opportunity!

About two months ago, Mr. Danford signed Evergreen up for an opportunity to invite a couple of families from our school to the new Nordstrom Rack before its official opening.

A complimentary shopping spree, if you will.

Fortunately, Evergreen was the school selected for this incredible opportunity! We chose two families who had the chance to shop in a nearly empty store, surrounded by enthusiastic employees, a handful of special guests, and—YES!—even a DJ to keep the energy and excitement going!

An absolutely terrific afternoon!

How cool was “leaf science” in Kindergarten today?!

Ms. Hodge invited Mr. Danford in for a peek, while her students explored fall leaves, fall colors, textures, and various leaf characteristics. Lots of discovery.

The 5-year-olds were very curious in learning terms such as big and small, and smooth and pointy. Not common identifiers to Kindergarteners.

Describing leaf colors and drawing leaf veins was new as well—seemed like.

Science can be so exciting!
