On Thursday the LFC crew members took Ladder and Traffic 63 to Ducklings Early Learning Center in Spring City for our annual Fire Prevention Week program. The children were taught different fire safety things and a Firefighter dressed in full fire gear to let the kids know not to be afraid but the big hit of the day was Miss Shannon one of the Day Care providers who dresses in fire gear and walks around and gets high fives from all and plenty of smiles. After the program all the children got to go outside and see the trucks and get plenty of pictures taken. We want to thank them for having us up again we enjoyed the time and look forward to next year. Thank you to Ducklings Staff for letting us use your photos.

The Liberty Fire Company Firefighters want to thank everyone that stopped by to see us on Saturday at the Spring City Parks and Rec “Music and Market Festival. There were plenty of pictures taken of the kids in the Fire Truck and smiles as they got to take a Fire Helmet home and again the big hit was the Junior Firefighter Challenge Course were the kids got to play being a Firefighter carrying hose, hammering a 4x4 thru a maze acting to enter a door and into a fire and then rescuing the big bear that was trapped and carrying it to safety and being a hero and becoming an honorary Junior Firefighter of Station 63 and receiving a certificate of completion of the course. We had a total of 38 kids and even two adults run the course. Thank you to the parents for letting them have a great time. The fastest in age groups were- Age 2-4 Hailey Watkins (age 4) 28.03 seconds, Age 5-8 Phoebe Ferrier (age 7) 15.13 seconds, Age 9-12 Ryan Po***ck (age 9) 13.75 seconds, Age 13-15 Jayce Holak (age 13) 17.66 seconds. LFC receives grant to upgrade ventilation fans

The Liberty Steam Fire Company No.1 has received a grant to upgrade our ventilation fans. The four new fans can operate on either the same batteries that our other tools currently use or on 110V. electrical power. Each fan is equipped with two LED lights at the front to improve visibility in areas where lighting is limited.

The new, more compact fans allow the department to carry two fans each on both Ladder 63 and the Squad 63. This doubles the previous capacity that we carried previously. This improvement will provide a safer way for firefighters to operate and will enhance their ability to clear smoke more effectively following a fire or a minor incidents such as the common cooking mishap calls.
