Big congratulations to Sgt. Chris Westerman for competing the arduous Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command training. The training was a rigorous ten week course spread out over the last twenty weeks.

Sgt Westerman is now one of five active members of the police department to complete this training.

Saturday we took part in the townships Fall Fest and it was a great time and great weather! If you were there you may have seen Officer Cosgrove and Officer Knowles walking throughout the event.
A special thanks to Officer Conroy and Officer Siebels from Ambler Police for assisting in the event with their departments new UTV.
Officer Jones and his K-9 partner Shadow from Abington Police made an appearance at the event as well.
Also thank you to the VMSC of Lansdale for allowing the police to use their Joint Operation Center vehicle for the event. Thanks also to the organizers and public works employees for making it run very smooth!

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Jury Duty & Law Enforcement Impersonation 🚨We have received multiple reports from residents about a phone scam involving individuals impersonating police officers. The caller claims that you missed jury duty, have an active warrant for your arrest, and must pay an immediate fine of $9,500 to avoid being taken into custody.THIS IS A SCAM.

Please Remember:

Law enforcement and courts do NOT call to demand payment. We will never ask you to pay fines over the phone, via cash apps, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or barcodes.

Jury duty notices come by mail. Official summons and notifications are never initiated through an immediate financial threat over the phone.

Number spoofing is common. Scammers can make their caller ID look like it is coming from a real police department or courthouse.

What You Should Do:

Hang up immediately. Do not engage with the caller or follow their instructions.

Do not give personal or financial information.

Verify independently. If you are ever worried about a real missed court appearance or summons, hang up and call the court or police department directly using a verified, official phone number.

This Sunday The Lower Gwynedd Township Police Community Response Unit had a busy and fruitful day. We had our last Kona with Cops event during the townships kids concert in the morning. It was a wonderful event and we had a great turnout!

Then in the afternoon we again teamed up with Giant Spring House for a fill a cop car event. We were able to donate thanks to so many 995 pounds of food and other goods to The Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, Inc. in Ambler. Many thanks to Giant and all of the wonderful people who donated!
