The Spring Lake Historical Conservation Commission (HCC) will host a Northside Neighborhood Historical Walking Tour on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. It will take place north of M-104 (Savidge Street) between Cutler and Buchanan Streets and focus on homes that are more than 110 years old.

David Dye, Jacquie Medina, and Lisa Hilliard โ€“ all members of the HCC โ€“ will be leading the tour. They each own historic homes and Dye is an architect who has renovated historic buildings.

Dye said the tour will showcase the home of William Barrett of Barrett Boat Works. It was built in 1861 and moved to its current location after the 1893 fire. In 1917, the home hosted a large Masonic funeral for William Barrett, where the family lived from the 1890s until the 1960s.

Also on the tour is a home owned by Hunter Savidge, a founder of Spring Lake Village and an American Foursquare home.

There is no cost to participate in the walking tour, but reservations are required due to a limit of 30 participants. The tour will last about an hour and will be held rain or shine (but will be cancelled if storming). To register or for additional information, email [email protected].
