🐾 7 SUMMER SAFETY TIPS FOR PETS ☀️
Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors with your furry friends, but the Texas heat can pose serious risks to pets. Help keep your pets safe, healthy, and comfortable with these important summer safety tips:
💧 1. Keep Your Pet Hydrated
Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water. Consider pet water fountains, ice cubes, or frozen treats to encourage hydration.
🐾 2. Protect Their Paws
Hot pavement can burn your pet's paws. Walk pets during cooler parts of the day and test surfaces with your hand before heading out.
🚗 3. Never Leave Pets in a Vehicle
Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly within minutes. If you can't take your pet with you, leave them at home.
🌞 4. Don't Forget Sun Protection
Pets with light-colored or thin coats can suffer sunburn. Ask your veterinarian about pet-safe sunscreen for vulnerable areas.
🛁 5. Keep Them Clean and Cool
Regular grooming and baths can help pets stay comfortable during the summer months.
🌳 6. Limit Outdoor Activity During Peak Heat
Plan walks early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower. Always provide shade and a cool place to rest.
🕷️ 7. Check Daily for Fleas and Ticks
Warm weather increases flea and tick activity. Inspect your pet regularly and keep them on veterinarian-recommended prevention treatments.
A few extra precautions can make all the difference in keeping your pets safe this summer. If it's too hot for you, it's probably too hot for them too!
