Springfield's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and all of the township departments have been monitoring the weather. We participated in a County OEM meeting yesterday and a JCP&L tele-conference this morning. Forecasts can change, and weather might not match forecasts.

We encourage you to have charged flashlights & cell phones, secure outdoor furniture and have the food, water & medications that you & your family need.

Do not approach down trees that may have live wires tangled in them. Report them, and any outage to JCP&L. The more customers that report an outage, the higher priority for JCP&L to repair it.

Union County Emergency Services is updating the County’s 2021 Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), which expires in 2026.

This HMP is required by state and federal agencies in order for communities in Union County to be eligible for certain types of state and federal disaster relief funds after a disaster occurs. Springfield and other Union County towns are covered by the County plan.

The Union County Board of County Commissioners reminds residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to join us today for the final public meeting regarding the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update. The virtual meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

During the meeting, participants will receive a high-level overview of the draft 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback prior to final submission.

NJ TRANSIT will temporarily suspend all Bus, Light Rail, and Access Link services at 4:00 AM on Sunday, January 25. Rail Service will be suspended at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 25. See https://www.njtransit.com/customer-notice/2040498 for details.

NJ TRANSIT will suspend bus, light rail & Access Link service for the entire service day on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Train service will operate until 2PM on Sunday. Customers must plan to arrive at their final destination no later than 2PM on Sunday.
