The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, can confirm the death of a 55 year-old man from Brooklyn, New York. The Coroner‘s office responded to an incident located in the northbound lane of interstate 55 near mile marker 83 this morning.  The 55 year-old man was pronounced deceased at 6:45 AM, at the scene of the incident. An autopsy is scheduled for today. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The death remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Sangamon County Coroner‘s office.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, can confirm the death of a man who was a passenger in a motor vehicle that collided with another vehicle near the intersection of North 11th & East Madison Street in Springfield on October 11th around 3:00am. Sean Clark, 21, of Athens, IL was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. An autopsy done October 12th showed Mr. Clark died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, can confirm the death of a man who was transported from a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of South 5th St. and East Laurel St. in Springfield on September 27th. Darren Polk, 62, of Springfield was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room, where he was pronounced deceased at 06:51am, shortly after his arrival. An autopsy done yesterday showed Mr. Polk died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Department and the Sangamon County Coroner‘s office.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, can confirm the death of a 32 year-old man from Springfield. On September 13, 2026 Michael Owens was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital after sustaining multiple blunt force injuries when a motorcycle he was operating crashed, near the intersection of South 5th Street and Stanford Avenue in Springfield. Mr. Owens was pronounced deceased at 4:52am by emergency room staff shortly after his arrival. The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Police and the Sangamon County Coroner.

The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, can confirm the death of a 42 year-old Springfield man who was transported by EMS to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, after a motorcycle he was operating crashed. The crash took place near Illinois Route 54 and Camp Butler Road on 9/5/2026 . William McCarthy was pronounced deceased at 9:01pm, in the emergency room, shortly after his arrival. An autopsy done today showed Mr. McCarthy died from multiple blunt force injuries, sustained in the crash. The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department
