I know this past fall. We had a lot of areas for new EMS districts that Illinois pass legislation to be able to do. A lot of this was due to funding and reimbursement has been getting difficult for EMS.
And I tried to follow and share a lot from all over the state and don’t get to talk to my friends and colleagues down south as much. But I have a pretty good source of information from people in the south. And there’s two people in particular one named Jim I believe the other is Eric. From what I’ve been hearing, they have been given a whole bunch of false information by the owner of MedStar Chuck I believe his name is and a manager Nowak what I’m hearing. Evidently these guys have been compensating these two other gentlemen to put out this false information so they can gain control over the area and put other services out of business.
I have some friends and past employees that started working for the contract agency that MedStar was getting there employees. Almost all them said how bad of treatment and conditions they were faced with almost on a daily basis. All of them have left now and they’re having tremendous staffing issues and people are leaving and the groves!
All these areas in Illinois really need to form these districts to help stabilize the existence of EMS. And all of us do know and don’t like paying taxes. This information that this guy is putting out in the calculations and math he’s telling people is just false and preposterous. This page that he has created giving all this information is Millstadt EMS public forum 2026. I urge many of us across the state to please stand up and put these gentlemen in their place.
I believe it would be good for all of us to support and show our support for Millstadt Ambulance Service no matter where you live at to stand up against these bullies. I attached a screenshot of one of his post that was sent to me and it’s just one of many.

So I’ve been getting messages, been seeing and reading a lot of things no new ambulance tax districts! Since they past the law last year to allow the new districts I’ve heard a lot of areas across the state filling. We have a few up north here that i know of and been getting message of some down state.
My only input is ems has been underfunded since the professional field was born. Many fire districts are combo with fire/ems. Some city’s keep it as a seperate devision. And of course our private side of it.
I do see a need of all the types! They have a place and job for all. Only thing with the private side, it is very difficult financially if you do not have a high volume of calls and IFT to support. Many areas contract 911 service to private companies that is tax base supported. Most contract amounts are base off of number of transports to maintain multiple factors. Such as response time average, UHU basically how much the unit is used, and cost of readiness in atea located.
We are seeing national average no matter now basic life support or advance life support between 700k and 1.5 million per ambulance. With average response time of 10 minutes or less from where the ambulance is stationed at!

Just comment across the state where some of these new district are being proposed!!! And any issues! Not looking for debate or arguing!!! Just wanting feedback! Thank you!
