We served it up Texas-style at our Taste of San Antonio events.

Residents were transported to the cantina with queso and chips, chicken fajitas, ranch-style beans and Pico de Gallo. And don’t forget about dessert – we indulged in cinnamon-sugar-coated churros!

To top it off, we watched the modern Western, The Alamo.

We can't want to see – and taste – the cuisine of our Taste events when they return 2027!

We’re proud to celebrate Holiday Montara Meadows for receiving the prestigious Q Award for outstanding quality and service.

This recognition is awarded to communities that achieve Quality Enhancement scores of 90% or higher, reflecting excellence across operations, hospitality, dining and resident experience. This year, Montara Meadows earned an impressive overall score of 95%.

These achievements reflect the dedication of community teams who work every day to create welcoming, vibrant places residents are proud to call home. We’re also grateful to the residents and families who help make each community so special.

“I was a choir director for ten years," shares Barbara. As a lover of the arts, staying involved has been an important part of Barbara’s life. That hasn't changed since living at Holiday Simi Hills.

“We’ve done murder mystery theaters here," she says, "with the staff and the residents.”

When asked about her life today, Barbara put it simply:

“Oh, I’ve been very active," she laughs.

Since moving to Holiday Genesee Gardens, Bobie has found a four-legged partner in Jasper – and he’s quickly become one of the community’s most recognizable residents.

Jasper joined Bobie about seven months ago after previously living with her daughter in Georgia. At three years old, he brings plenty of energy and personality to their days, whether they’re enjoying the backyard, taking walks around the neighborhood or greeting friends throughout the community.

Jasper has become such a familiar face that sometimes residents greet him before they even say hello to Bobie. As one young visitor once announced after running up to the porch, “This is Jasper.”

Now that Bobie is a Resident Ambassador, she and Jasper make quite the welcoming team. Jasper may be the “tiny, mighty protector of Genesee Gardens,” but he’s also a friendly little guy who knows his neighbors, loves being outside and wants to be everyone’s best friend.

And according to Bobie, there’s one thing that stands out most about life at Genesee Gardens: “Everybody’s nice.” 🐾

Lights, camera, action! 🎬

Good friends and a great plot make for the perfect movie theater outing. Just ask the residents at Holiday Springs of Escondido, who took a trip to the cinema to see The Odyssey!

"I got some popcorn, and it brought back so many memories," shares Cynthia. "My daughter and I used to go to the movies, especially in the summertime. We'd get a bucket of popcorn, a soda, and just sit back and take it all in."

We hope they had an epic time! 🍿

A single idea from Lynn has grown into a community-wide effort to bring comfort to children in need.

After fellow resident Dorothy began making tie blankets at her church next door and bringing them to , Holiday Crescent Heights saw an opportunity to create a ministry of their own. Together, residents, staff, church members and local volunteers have now made more than 100 blankets for children in West Virginia, with plans to keep going.

Each blanket comes with a handmade card from resident Evelyn, featuring a note to let the child know they are loved and thought about. Residents also work alongside church volunteers of all ages – even a six-year-old named Clara helps tie knots.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to know that there are still things we can do to help others,” Lynn says.

For Lynn, the blankets are about more than what they make. They’re a way for people to connect, share what they’re going through and make sure no one feels alone. As Lynn puts it, “It’s like a rolling wave of community.”

"This one’s for you, Georgie,” says Shirley, as she tosses horseshoes on the lawn at Holiday Kittery Estates her late husband, was her life's big love. “I first saw him playing horseshoes when I was 13,” she says. “I remember looking at him and thinking, that kid is so cute.”

A few years later, they started dating. They spent all of high school together, growing up side by side and falling more and more in love.

Playing horseshoes at the community brought her closer to the memory of him. “I remembered him the whole time. He was right there with me. And he gave me the luck to play a good game today.”

Every time she says, “This one’s for you, Georgie,” it's as if she's inviting the love of her life to join her for one more game.

It's never too late to meet your new best friend! Take it from Zella and Darlene, who met in the dining room at Holiday Hidden Lakes and have been best friends ever since.

Zella and Darlene enjoy meals, attend community events and play Rummikub together. "We have easy conversations," shares Zella. "I'm grateful to have someone I know I can count on when I need help, advice or simply someone to listen."

Their advice for being a good friend? Always be honest, because trust is the hardest thing to gain back once it’s lost.

Charlotte has spent her life creating. After studying at the Minneapolis School of Art and Design, she explored countless creative outlets – painting, sewing, quilting, cake decorating, sign-making and designing clothing, including her own wedding dress. She's just about done it all!

She gave a talk for her fellow residents at Holiday Aspen View about her life story and how it's been reflected in her art throughout the years. From growing up on a farm to living all over the country, becoming a mother and even donating a kidney to her son. One of her more recent creations, "Pieces of Time," represents her life's journey, made of clocks and watches swirling together harmoniously.

Through every chapter of her life, Charlotte has remained an artist – always finding new ways to express herself. Brava!
