The Health Care Council of Illinois (HCCI) is the strong, leading voice for nursing home communities across the state.

HCCI strives to bridge the divide between state policy makers and nursing home communities through education and advocacy. Illinois must rein in state spending to solve our financial crisis, but we must protect funding for nursing homes. Holding the line will ensure:

Residents have quality care, food and home-like surroundings. Staff have fair wages and a good work environment. Families can depend on nursing homes to care for their loved ones.

Facility visits provide valuable opportunities for lawmakers to see firsthand the important work being done in long-term care communities across Illinois.

Recently, State Representative Jackie Haas visited Bickford of Bourbonnais, where she met with facility leaders and discussed issues impacting assisted living providers, residents, and families. The conversation highlighted the importance of supporting quality long-term care, promoting resident safety, and ensuring providers have the resources needed to serve their communities.

Thank you to Representative Haas for taking the time to visit, listen, and engage with providers on the future of senior care in Illinois.

As HCCI's Director of Federal Advocacy and Workforce Development, Destiny Lee brings a strong background in public policy, government relations, and workforce initiatives to her role. Since joining HCCI in 2021, she has helped advance advocacy efforts and support initiatives that strengthen the long-term care workforce across Illinois.

Before joining HCCI, Destiny served as a Policy and Budget Analyst in the Office of the Illinois Senate President, staffing committees focused on public health, human services, financial institutions, and state government. Her experience also includes budget analysis for the Illinois Department of Corrections and leading workforce development efforts at the local level.

Destiny's passion for public service, policy, and community impact continues to drive her work on behalf of HCCI members and the residents they serve. We're grateful for her leadership and dedication to advancing quality senior care throughout Illinois. 💙

Meaningful conversations with policymakers are essential to advancing quality senior care. During a recent visit to ALIYA of Palatine, State Senator Darby Hills met with providers to discuss issues impacting long-term care across Illinois, including Medicaid funding, rising costs of care, and the need for sustainable investments that support residents, families, and caregivers.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of educating seniors and their families on topics such as financial planning, trusts, and inheritance, helping individuals make informed decisions before a crisis occurs.

Thank you to Senator Hills for taking the time to visit, listen, and engage in thoughtful discussions about the future of long-term care in Illinois.
