A Reality Check for Republicans
Today’s Supreme Court action on mail-in voting should be a wake-up call.
We may not like mail-in voting. We can demand stronger verification, greater transparency and faster counting. But it is part of the system we have today.
If Democrats are using mail ballots and early voting, Republicans cannot sit those elections out and expect to win.
We have to compete where the votes are.
Secure ballots. Strong verification. Transparent counting. And every legally cast ballot counted as quickly as possible.
And most importantly:
If we want to change the election laws, we have to win the majority first.
We don’t change the rules by sitting on the sidelines.
We win elections. We earn the majority. Then we change the laws.
Until then, Republicans need to use every legal avenue available to us and get very, very good at it.
🇺🇸 Compete. Win. Then change the rules
Illinois’ Democratic leaders expressed trepidation after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to proceed with plans that could severely limit mail-in voting.
