Richard Byrd Community Library, an ABC project in Virginia Congratulations to Keller Brothers Inc. on their ABC Metro Washington and ABC Virginia project; Richard Byrd Community Library.

The Richard Byrd Community Library project for the Fairfax County Department of Public Works included the demolition, remodel, and addition to the existing library building for a new footprint of 18,000 square feet. The facility was redesigned and reconstructed to meet the needs of the community. The project included major site renovation, storm water management upgrades, utility upgrades, and a new parking lot. In addition, unique daylighting and thermal envelope strategies were used to allow natural light and ventilation to enter the building. The Richard Byrd Library has been awarded Fairfax County Department of Public Works & Environmental Service’s 2010 Capital Facilities Award of Excellence for General Contractor, Keller Brothers, Inc. and design firm BeeryRio Architecture and Interiors. The project was initially designed for a LEED Silver level certification but has achieved LEED Gold certification.
