Chicago’s tourism and hospitality industry is a vital part of our economy, supporting jobs, small businesses, and the vibrant neighborhoods that make our city so special!

It was a pleasure joining The Magnificent Mile Association for its Annual Fall Tourism Program and connecting with leaders who are helping shape the future of tourism in Chicago.

As a State Representative, I’m proud to support efforts that strengthen our visitor economy, revitalize our downtown corridors, and create new opportunities for local businesses and working families.

From the Magnificent Mile to our world-class museums, restaurants, and neighborhoods, Chicago has an incredible story to tell. Our job is to make sure we continue investing in everything that makes our city a world-class destination.

A meaningful and eye opening visit to the National Public Housing Museum right here in Chicago!

I walked away with a deeper understanding of the history of public housing, the resilience of its residents, and the strong communities built within these homes.

As State Representative and Chair of the House Museums, Arts, Culture & Entertainment Committee, this visit reminded me why preserving these stories and listening to the people who lived them is so important to my work.

Public housing is more than buildings. It’s home, history, family, and community. Our stories matter!

What a weekend! ❤️

I traded my legislative heels for the runway and had an incredible time participating in Trashion Revolution: ICONS, a fashion show where creativity meets a cause! 💃🏽♻️

It was an honor to be part of an event that proves fashion can be more than a statement of style. It can also be a powerful platform for raising awareness about plastic pollution, promoting sustainability, and advancing environmental justice.

A wonderful celebration of creativity, advocacy, and the power of fashion to inspire change. Because looking good and doing good never go out of style! ❤️🌎

I was happy to join Choose Chicago in celebrating our city being named a top city for the 10th year in a row!

It is an incredible honor to represent a district that showcases so much of what makes Chicago special. From the Bean and Millennium Park in the heart of downtown to Bronzeville and its historic cultural corridor, the 5th District is home to neighborhoods, landmarks, businesses, and communities that tell the story of our city.

Chicago’s strength is in its people, its history, and the unique character of every neighborhood. I’m proud to call this city home and even prouder to represent a piece of it in Springfield.

Here’s to 10 years at the top and many more to come! ❤️🏙️

Yesterday, I had a productive conversation with Commander Herbert Williams III of Chicago’s 2nd Police District about public safety and the concerns I continue to hear directly from constituents.

We discussed the need to address issues impacting our neighborhoods, including vehicle thefts, shootings, and broader concerns around community safety. These conversations are critical to understanding what our local police districts are seeing on the ground, where challenges remain, and how we at the state level can help ensure they have the resources and support necessary to keep our communities safe.

Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home, on their block, and throughout their neighborhood. I remain committed to working collaboratively with local law enforcement, community partners, and residents toward that goal.

This conversation is part of a broader effort to engage directly with law enforcement leadership across the 5th District, and I look forward to meeting with the other district commanders who serve our communities in the weeks ahead.

What a great turnout today at the Project H.O.O.D. Fall Hiring Event!

It was inspiring to see so many job seekers connecting directly with employers, exploring career opportunities, and taking important steps toward their future. This is what community partnership looks like: bringing resources, employers, and opportunity directly to our neighborhoods.

Thank you to Project HOOD all of the participating employers and community partners, and everyone who came out today. I’m proud to support efforts that connect residents with good jobs and pathways to long-term success right here in our community.

Thank you to Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor for hosting her annual Returning Citizens Summit and for continuing to create spaces centered on opportunity, dignity, and second chances.

Returning home after incarceration should not mean facing a new set of barriers. Our returning citizens deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and ease, with access to employment, housing, healthcare, education, and the resources necessary to fully reintegrate into their communities.

When people have served their time, we have a responsibility to ensure they can move forward, provide for their families, and participate fully in everyday life. Supporting successful reentry strengthens families, neighborhoods, and communities across Chicago.

Grateful to Alderwoman Taylor and all of the organizations, advocates, and service providers who showed up to make that commitment a reality.
