Effingham County youth baseball and softball teams to compete in Little League, GRPA

SPRINGFIELD – Effingham County youth baseball and softball players will have more opportunities to compete for championships beginning next spring.

Effingham County Sports and Recreation Services has been granted a charter with Little League Baseball and Softball, adding the internationally recognized youth sports organization to its existing affiliation with the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

The county will continue participating in GRPA, while teams in select age groups will also compete in Little League. Those teams will have the opportunity to pursue championships through both organizations.

Little League provides a community-based program and tournament pathway that can lead from local competition to state, regional and World Series play. GRPA provides competition among recreation programs throughout Georgia.

The dual affiliation gives Effingham County players opportunities to face different competition, gain additional postseason experience and continue developing their skills without changing the county's existing recreation program.

For local baseball and softball players, it means more ways to compete, develop and potentially play for a championship.
