Winter Conditioning -- sponsored by the Springfield Recreation Department -- is back! Coached by Megan Rezvani of High Rez Fitness, the program is open to 4th-9th graders who live in or attend a school in Springfield, New Jersey - Union County. Winter Conditioning features a 10-class season of indoor running, physical fitness and strength training, stretching, and injury prevention techniques. Space is limited. Springfield Recreation Department's October 2026 calendar for the Springfield, New Jersey - Union County's 55+ community includes: a variety of games such as bingo, poker, dominos, rummikub, and puzzles; computer lab; indoor open-play pickleball (free annual registration required); "Shape Up with Liz," "Forever Fit with Betsy," "Music & Movement with Lisa," and "Exercise, Moves, & Music with Township of Union, New Jersey - Government Health Department" exercise classes (free annual registration required); fitness room open on weekdays from 9:00 am-8:00 pm (free annual registration required); bus trip to Old York Cellars Winery in Ringoes (sold out); bus trip to The Shore Club in Spring Lake (sold out); "Decorate Your Own Pizza" with Andrea (must RSVP, limit 17); "Battle of Springfield" video and live discussion (RSVP); and the Springfield Senior Citizens Club meeting and luncheon (RSVP and pay $5 by Thursday, October 22). On Monday, October 26, eligible residents are encouraged to make an appointment to donate blood at the Chisholm Community Center from 1:00-7:00 pm, by calling the New York Blood Center-New Jersey Blood Services at (732) 672-5281. Walk-ins are also welcome. This blood drive is hosted by the Springfield Police Department in memory of Detective John Patrick. Free weekday in-Springfield bus service is available from 8:45 am-3:30 pm (with some exceptions such as bus maintenance, special bus trips, and Columbus Day). We can drive you to and from Chisholm, Springfield Free Public Library, Post Office, supermarkets, pharmacies, salons, fitness clubs, physical therapy, stores, restaurants, doctors, and more! Mark your calendar for Springfield Recreation Department's annual Halloween Spooktacular and get your children's costumes early! This year, our spooky fun event will be held at Springfield, New Jersey - Union County's Fallapalooza (street fair, car show, food truck festival, b**r garden, vendors, and more) on Sunday 10/18/26 (raindate Sunday 10/25/26). Find us in the parking lot across from the Springfield Free Public Library on Hannah Street at Mountain Avenue. Here is the schedule:

11:00 am-5:00 pm - Summit Soundz DJ music dance party, Red Ribbon Week give-aways, pumpkin painting (while supplies last), PSE&G escape room truck and lawn games
12:30-3:30 pm - strolling magician, Halloween inflatable maze, costume contest registration open, costume judging
3:30 pm - costume contest winners announced, prizes awarded
